Metal Detecting
Early days - my first real find. A magical talisman.
Wasn’t going to go to *Ainsdale today but at lunchtime there was another of those beautiful blue sunny skies.
So put my gear into the car and set out for a little more detecting. I’d not had any luck, just silence so far, and needed to try one more time. I visited the more northerly end of the beach car park.
Suddenly, after quite some time in silence, the detector made a strong sound. At last, I thought, beginning to dig a hole.
Yes, I had found something, I had detected my spade.
I continued, this is a learning experience, and once more, there was a different note.
Yes, yes, this time it was the trailing end of my head-phones’ lead. Oh well.
After a while, once more, a strong sound.
I dug and I poked around with my pin-pointer in the hole that I had dug. Could it be?
Something was there, my first real object was detected.
When I cleaned off the sand I saw a small Harry Potter figure wielding a wand and attached to a paper clip. (Some sort of book-mark, it seemed.)
The Gods of Detection at last smiled and gave me a sign.
I am now obliged to return and continue my search.
As I returned, on my wobbly way back to my car, a very nice lady asked if I was okay and did I need help. I thanked her but insisted I was fine and I was here to work at getting myself mobile again.
I hope the fresh air and exercise will be beneficial.
And here is my first ever detector find, a Wizard with a Wand, sent by the Great Gods of Detection. (see below)
A lucky omen I am sure. Real treasure.
(I am quite pleased that a paperclip can give such a positive signal and in so many ways.)
*At Ainsdale there is a car park actually on the beach so for someone with mobility issues everything becomes easier.
I have a rollator with big wheels that carries my gear over the sands and provides a perch when I need it. Without this my adventures would be impossible.
