As I’ve said in many posts I am non-verbal following my aneurysm back in May 2021.everyday I sit in my wheelchair willing myself to speak but before I know it The day is over and I haven’t made a sound.I’m so frustrated with myself and so long to speak again.my SALT has been focussed on drinking and now the sessions have ended as she is moving on.
I came home from hospital with a hand that that hung down on the end of an arm. Really not hand and arm, just dangling things.
I’m not the same as you, but similar in that I was willing something to happen. Three years later slowly slowly things happened. I still work at willing improvement and am optimistic.
Arm and hand are nothing like pre-stroke but I can lift the arm gradually more now and the hand can grasp and hold. These small improvements give me hope that my mobility and dexterity can get better.
I’m still willing for things to happen.
Now I’ll just have an hour’s rest on this plateau before looking for another mountain to climb.
Thank you @bobi I too had a dysfunctional arm and hand but my daughter’s have worked on it with me squeezing my hand which I do back and it is almost restored I try to move it when I’m dressed engaging the muscles as my shirt sleeve is put on.my right arm and hand is thankfully 100%there thanks to typing on this iPad.best of luck and as you like to say endelea endelea.
Serious stuff put aside for a moment, I would thoroughly enjoy a light-hearted but emotionally poignant film about stroke survivors on an adventure. All our resources coming together to overcome a challenge.
I seriously approve of non-serious projects.
A resource pool. A virtual event. Creative workshop.
Stroke of genius.
A gallery of communal participation.
Non-verbal signals.
Dissolution of isolation.
During covid and enforced isolation folk were working each from their home base to put together movies of co-operative activity.
One example was musical with a piece of music put together in separate bits, similar to the way tubular bells was created.
Maybe a few of us could coordinate a similar adventure.
Not necessarily musical.
For a start we need performers.
A story board, script, theme, tale to tell, whatever.
Direction, a plan, ideas.
Something to pull it together.
The root of all evil, funding. or alternatively, a shoestring.
Something’s cooking.
What happens when you get hold of a selfie stick?
Through the looking glass?
The magician’s hat and the white rabbit . . .
A silent movie is
almost non verbal.
Build a bird feeder, a bird bath, a watering station for bees.
Give Nature a hand.
Brainstorm.
During my teaching of Screen and Media, I was very interested in participatory cinema, there were some early projects that came out of the web, a sci-fi film for instance, I forget its name. Then decades later, David Tennant put together Staged which is another example of using connected media to create content. Films about stroke often have a lot of pathos, films like My Broken Brain, which I tried watching but found too depressing. I do watch films with pathos but I have to be in the mood. The films I enjoy most are comedies (dark and light) and adventure films, these make me feel good and allow me to escape the everyday or reflect on the everyday in a more positive way. I’d like to see a film about stroke survivors on an adventure with humour, not flippant or farcical but intelligent and funny with some buffoonery peppered in the mix just for a lark.
Rupert - you have planted the seed and knowing there are others on here who think like you and who also have the creative skills, hopefully soon you will all get together and come up with the film. I shall eagerly await its screening
A playlet could be stitched together with each actor speaking their lines separately on camera then submitting them to someone to edit and stick it together as a continuous show.
(maybe not speaking maybe performing an action?) – work on that
I’m sure it is practical and possible.
We need a script writer and some willing actors/actresses.
A Hero, a Villain, a Witch and of course a Wardrobe, maybe a Pirate and a Crocodile together with the Lord of the Manor..
Perhaps we could have something ready for Christmas or Halloween.
A Magical Mystery Tour, a Pantomime, or a Treasure Hunt.
If I’m given a few movie shorts I could edit & stitch them together.
This has to be possible. Our production, on our level, to be enjoyed by UZ. Could it be fun?
Name of production – A Stroke of Genius.
Agreed Bobbi - the ball is rolling
How about Rupert doing the script since it’s his idea? @Rups?
Will @Rups write or suggest a script?
We need lots of king’s shillings to press the acting fraternity/sorority into service.
We can start another thread for this otherwise we’re hijacking @Mich-mm thread
I really don’t mind like any discussion,it should be allowed to evolve with no restraints❣️ 🜁
