I had my stroke on the 10/2/2014 and have tried really hard to get the muscle working in my left arm, it does work a bit now but I can’t feel it. Any advice please.
8/3/2021 my left arm and leg also seem to be getting worse with pins and needles, coldness and lack of much feeling, although I am able to walk and swim and use my arm and leg fairly well (I do have a gait disorder, and often drop things held in my left hand). I don’t have any advice or answers but thought it odd. I just figured I was working them so much I was tiring them out. Hopefully someone else will know about this. I don’t worry about it so much because of the other things that are more important to me, but the lack of feeling, if like mine, you can, but not much…the not much is enough to make it a bit painful.
Thanks deann it’s just so hard to my the arm+ leg work better when they don’t have sensation i have tried tens to see if it would activate the nerves or muscles but that hasn’t worked but I’ll keep trying.
@MERCman1 hi my little suggestion would be use it or loose it. I have restricted movement in my left shoulder and have to exercise it everyday .My left hand does not have much sensation so use it as much as possible, even typing this with each finger. keep on going
I do Chris had my stroke on the 10 of February 2014 have limited use of my arm and leg, i exercise every day religiously still getting small things happening but think it would happen more if i could actually feel it, i will continue trying. Thanks for the reply an good luck.
MERCman1- Hi- Have you tried using electrostimulation? They used a tens unit on me every day while I was in the hospital to wake things up. They come from low price to high and can be bought on the internet. Just a suggestion. Jeanne
Hi I am 18 month post strokes I had one then the 2nd one 4days later I consider myself very lucky recently I was going to use a tens machine for my left hand but thought before I used it I would ask my doctor and the occupational therapist if it was a good idea both wouldn’t commit a answer so I held back now I’m glad I did because the tingling on my left hand I had had from day 1 in my left hand just stopped overnight and now it just feels like all the skin on the palm of my hand is very tight so earlier today I talked to my doctor and she said because I had been gripping everything so tightly ie zimmer for so long through fear of losing grip I had vastly overworked my hand hence the tightness so now starting to do hand massages hopefully will work onwards and upwards
