Newbie Alert!

Hi @Anna_Moderator

Thanks for your message and I hope I don’t end up in your bad books for my conduct on this forum

I was never a Goth when I was younger but I was partial to a bit of the Mission

I am aware of Peter Hooks work with Joy Division and new Order bur have never heard of anything by Peter Hook and the Light; what type of music do they play?

Thanks @ManjiB

Am i correct in think that you are quoting from Tubthumping by Chumbawamba in your post? It reminds me of my accountancy exams as every time my study group finished a session we would put it on full belt; gosh that takes me back!

I love Grendel and regret never seeing it performed live

Achtung Bono is a masterpiece: one day I shall own some Joy Division Oven Gloves. I haven’t heard the other one, I haven’t really kept up since Urge for Offal. My weekend listening is decided.

Yes @jonnyDee - you are correct  Even the misquote didn’t fool you. You are truly a music aficionado

@harimanjaro , for me, it’s listening to Depeche Mode albums. Can’t wait.

Sorry @jonnyDee I never got to see the scratch , got struck down with a chest infection and been sleeping for past few days as it totally drained me- bit of a bummer but still there will be another time.

Packers are maybe a few seasons and picks away from being fully competitive really but again last season for a few teams were highlight seasons. Look at the Bears from out of nowhere seriously competitive for the first time in decades, Chiefs are in decline but always thought they were over hyped and just lucky. Hoping the league will be the most open and unpredictable in years though the Pat’s would not surprise me have the coach and the raw talent .

I’m sorry that you didn’t get to see the Scratch; it’s frustrating when you build yourself up for something and it doesn’t happen! My next gig is the Thompson Twins! ( my wife’s choice not mine) but I just love live music irrespective of whether I like the band of not!

The last group that my wife took me to see were the Sisters of Mercy; who are known to me as the rudest group in music! We turned up on a horrible wet Thursday night ( I turned up in my suit straight from work!) and the band didn’t thank the crowd at all for coming; there’ll be one less person present next time they play in London

sorry I’m waffling now! But it did anger me at the time

I thought they couldn’t possibly exist in the reality, but…

My husband introduced me to the Mission, they’re great live! Peter Hook and the light just do Joy Division and New Order songs, they’re also great live.

I did once see the Mission at the Town & Country club in Kentish Town

I will keep an eye out for Peter Hook and the Light if they play near us; I could wear my new Joy Division oven Gloves if I went, thanks @harimanjaro

Yeah Peter Hook is great. I prefer Joy Division to New Order, Manchester seems to make some cracking bands!

@Anna_Moderator , aye that they do. I’d also add Stone Roses, 10cc, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets etc… As a former musician, I appreciate the melodies as well how the tune in composed.
