Hey Anne something amazing has happened.
I had my botox last week and now my hand isn’t clenching anymore I can straighten my fingers with my good hand.
John
Yay that’s fantastic. Sounds like the botox is having some effect.
I first noticed last night but didn’t expect it to last
Hope the good effects have lasted into tiday too.
Still not curling love
Brilliant that must feel much better
It started happening on Wednesday night when I was in bed, I thought I was dreaming.
I contacted community physio and let them know
Am really pleased for you. Long may it continue.
Me too.
My first 2 fingers near my thumb are the loosest
But none are clenching.
Contacted physio and left a message so hopefully they will come very soon.
Just hope they don’t clench again
It all sounds like progress in the right direction. Hopefully the physio will be in touch soon.
Hopefully Anne.
My fingers have always been clenched
Is it possible to sort my eye out after a year Anne.
If you look at the right side there’s a line of skin vertical.
I have to hold my right eye closed to check if my glasses are clear after cleaning them.
John
Hi John, I know little about eyes but as with all things stroke if it can be sorted then it won’t stop “sorting” just because a year is up. It’s true that recovery may slow a bit after the initial phase but recovery can continue life long.
Was it caused because of facial droop with your stroke? Here’s a link to some facial droop exercises- there are some eye firming ones lower down the page.
Hi Anne just had occupational therapist from community team who basically said all she was going to do is get me some sheets to do my own stretching and exercises.
I don’t know why she bothered coming
She saw that there was stretching needed that I couldn’t do myself but didn’t care basically.
John
The therapist yesterday said coming once a week for a short time was pointless .
That is what the last one was going to do which is what I thought
Shame the occupational therapist meeting didn’t go as expected. I think a lot of them just give you exercises to do and the it is over to you to do them. As with all physio etc it is the work you put in between appointments that makes the difference. They are right a visit for 1 hour a week isn’t going to sort your issues that’s why you have to work at it yourself. Which you have been doing.
When the other lady came with therapist last time she said she was going to wait till I had the botox then make a plan.
Put it this way Anne the therapist could see the stretching I couldn’t do but didn’t understand that I needed someone to stretch what I can’t or my arm won’t work normally so to me there’s no point doing stretching with my arm if nobody can be bothered to stretch what I can’t as in the end my arm won’t work as it should.
John
Would your dad be able to help with the arm stretches at all? Or maybe a friend or neighbour? I have to get my hubby’s help with my leg exercises as I can’t lift my leg myself.
