Ah well the Mrs5K came about a few years before my stroke. I had taken up running & I was chatting to my then boss telling him how I had built up to run 5K ftom nothing. From that day he has forever called me Mrs5K so I decided to use it as my user name when i joined the forum.
To me your priceless with how you have helped me.
Kept me going when I have felt like giving up..
My dad’s still in hospital but being on my own has helped me find out what I can do and helped me find ways to do what I couldn’t.
I can wash up and tie a carrier bag with 1 hand but can’t sort a kitchen bin.
But nice neighbour does that for me.
So glad you’re around the splint lady did notice muscle wastage when I showed her my knees but she did notice fat close to my bad knee so I must be doing something right.
You’re too kind you. That’s what the forum is about though. Supporting people through those tough times.
Sorry to hear your dad is still in hospital. Hope they sort him soon.
Sounds like your dad being in hospital has forced you to find ways to do things which will be doing you good. It is amazing where we find the reserves from when we need to.
I am home alone this weekend for the 1st time since my stroke & I have done a few things that hubby normally does. I’m worn out but satisfying none the less.
Thanks for being there.
I’ve been married 3 times and every one used me and treated me like crap.
I had a Irish gran who brought me up to treat women with respect, care and love but she never said how they would treat me.
Your a godsend
Question for you Anne.
Last Wednesday I woke up with pain in my good arm.
I had doctor out who said I have tennis elbow.
What exercises can’t I do with having that.
Am I still ok doing squats holding grab rail.
Hi John, sorry to hear you have tennis elbow.
I had it years ago & it is painful. I don’t recall having to avoid anything specific when I had it.
Having looked on Google it says to avoid anything that causes pain in it. If you’re unsure try uour squats gently if it aggravates it then stop. Maybe you could double check with your physio or ask your GP.
First my knee now this.
I woke up last Wednesday and I couldn’t even touch my fingers together.
It actually started the morning that my electrode appointment was.
I’m using voltarol for osteoarthritis which is what I have head to toe.
I have my botox injections on Monday.
Hope your ok Anne
Hi John, how is the your electrode treatment going, have you started that yet?
Your tennis elbow was is likely due to you having to rely on that hand so much, particularly with your squats. My hubby has had the same for a several weeks now. He says its a lot better now, but not gone yet either. Apparently it can take months to recover and the only thing you can really do is rest it when you can and take painkillers/anti inflammatories. So much the as you are doing.
I had it myself when the kids were babies, all the carrying around I did etc
Hi Lorraine its hard to pull the pads off the thing they are on to put them on my arm but I will get there. Am trying to walk around without holding on as I can now wear my splint all day.
How’s your kitchen?
Glad your dad is home again. He’ll hopefully start to get stronger now he is home. I haven’t had lucozade for many years.
Using your unit every day should help loads.
If you arm is hurting doing squats tgen I’d suggest leaving them off for a little while. Doing the stand ups and walking will definitely help you so perhaps fo a few extra of those instead.
I even have pain at top of my shoulder.
I have rolled my sleeve up and put voltarol on my leg and tried to rub some on but it’s hard.
Sometimes fingers on my good hand lock
