I’m doing ok. Thank you. Hope you are too.
Yes after having my splint adjusted I can wear it all day which has helped me be able to do more.
Next week I go for a cast for a new splint.
Glad you’re okay
It seems like having that adjustment done has made a big difference to you. A bit like trying to wear ill fitting shoes & hobbling along in them.
Yes Anne exactly.
Thing I’m looking forward to the most is going to Sheffield
Things I can do now thanks to wearing my splint
Wash up 1 handed .
Take recycling out to bins 1 handed learning to walk abit I can also tie up a carrier bag and put it in the bin .
See Anne I’m fighting to get better.
Hope your having a good weekend.
John
You’re definitely fighting to get better & making good progress too. Well done.
Weekend going ok thanks. Hope yours is too.
Mine is ok thanks.
I’m doing squats still wearing my splint and also standing on 1 leg at night and bending my bad knee as much as I’m able for count of 20
Sounds like you’re doing lots of good stuff there. It will pay dividends in the end.
Am trying my best.
Will you let Lorraine know?
Thanks for the support
John
Am currently trying to walk from room to room till my brain gets used to it and my toes stop curling
I’ve managed it going from room to kitchen and back but there is 1 place in the room am having problem
That small gap
Ah you might need to move the furniture a little to make the gap bigger. If that’s possible of course.
Lorraine is busy having a new kitchen gitted at the moment I think but she should see your messages when she logs into the forum.
Left side is my bed right side is the sofa so I can’t make it any bigger.
I just remembered about Lorraine.
Hi Anne this morning I got up and felt like what’s the point.
My rehab physio stopped being bothered after February.
At first he used to bend my foot too help with the foot drop and foot turn.
But the last time I saw him he just said foot splint would sort both.
I do start electrode treatment next week but I feel like I’m going to bed like this forever.
The only things I’m able to do because of the heat is foot squats in bathroom which is cool and 1 leg bends at night.
There’s always a point. I don’t think this weather helps. It makes everyone a bit blurgh. Most improvements are made from the things you so yourself so try not to get too hung up on your poor experience with the physio.
You won’t be like you are forever. Improvements take a long time and you have to be in it for the long haul. Things often feel like they aren’t progressing & then all of a sudden you notice an improve. Just think about the improvements you have already made.
Just do what you can in this hot weather. The rest can wait for another day.
Take it easy today and try again tomorrow.
Thanks Anne you’re a wise lady.
I’m going for my electrode treatment next week and can’t wait.
Had cast done for new splint and new hand splint ordered Wednesday.
When I yawn my fingers open
When I open fingers myself my wrist is in a bent l shape.
Only time it’s straight is when my fingers are curld.
I’m trying to do as much as I can before the year is up since I had my stroke which is 14th September.
I know recovery slows after first year.
Thanks for everything.
John
Hope your electrode treatment goes well. Sounds like lots of things are starting to come together for you. Hopefully the splints won’t take long.
It’s weird how different parts of the body seem connected. You’ll have to do lots of yawning if you need your fingers to open.
Try not to think too much about timeframes. Things will keep moving forward whether it is a year or 2 years. Yes things may slow but they won’t stop. And sometimes things just suddenly take a leap forward.
Last time I had electrode treatment was in rehab and I had pads stuck on my wrist and the machine was turned on and my fingers moved every time the current was added so having 6 months worth should hopefully get my hand working.
I called Community centre and said about not seeing a phone for 5 weeks.
Then this afternoon I got a call from physio leader I think and she’s coming to see me a week on Monday so hopefully I can explain things so I can get a suitable physio coming
The electrode treatment should be great if you’re having 6 months worth. Will bd so much better for you if you can get your hand working.
Sounds like progress with the physio situation too.
It’s all coming together.
Stay cool in the heat today.
Hi Anne yes will let you know what happens with electrode treatment.
I was wondering you call yourself Mrs 5k.
Is that because you think that’s all your worth because I think you’re priceless
