Every year we mark National Aphasia Awareness Month in June. There are more than 350,000 people who have aphasia after a stroke in the UK. This year, members of AphasiaAlliance.org (including Stroke Association) are working together to tell people about aphasia and what helps to make conversations easier. People with aphasia tell us that giving them time is important. Being in a quiet place without too much background noise also helps. Pen and paper to draw or write key words. Photographs. Gesture and mime. What else helps you?
