@evil.c65 Hello and welcome to the forum :slightly_smiling_face:
Do you have aphasia?
Is it part of your stroke condition that is holding you back with your communication ?

Thank you, that explains a lot :people_hugging:

How long since your stroke?
Mine was 3½yrs ago and I still have mild aphasia, but I’m doing pretty good with it now.

Is there anything specific that concerns you?

How are you with reading?
Our Welcome post might be a useful read for you.

Clive thank you so much for sharing your story :slightly_smiling_face:
I’m after reading the article and watched your interview and I can hear how far you have come.

I certainly understand some of how you felt in the beginning, though I didn’t feel suicidal. But I did cry the whole of that first night after finding I couldn’t speak.
Understandable really, in hospital during lockdown, no visitors, couldn’t ask any question on what was wrong with me. I knew I’d had a stroke, but there was no mention of aphasia. That did come 'til I was home and the OT filled me in

Do you attend any aphasia self help groups in Wales?
I attend one in Manchester, started just after the lockdowns finished.

I must say I found it a god send, great for boosting your confidence.
We regularly go out for meals, visiting places, met so many new faces. It’s gotten to the point that I’ve found myself pitying speech abled strangers when they’re faced with 16 odd aphasia folk and they’re struggling to understand some

I stopped caring how I sound when out and about. I’m more than happy to enlighten anyone when needed. And found very few issues, though it is frustrating when words don’t come or the stammer rears its head :confounded:

Shwmae Clive, just watched your video, well done on pushing forward, pets are great company for stroke survivors. If it weren’t for my pigs, it would have taken me longer to get out walking again.
