@EmeraldEyes Thankyou and @Anna_Moderator

I have found an over 60’s ‘Move it or lose it’ class, in Narborough a village nearby to me and have been 3 times. It’s really good and I thank you so much for the encouragement.

Best wishes x

Just took a quick look on the internet and it shows there’s a David Lloyd gym in Narborough. Now I do know they do discounted rates for disabled and off-peak memberships so worth checking them out. They’re nice and clean, air conditioned, showers, swimming pool, they even have a restaurant and cafe, a relaxing social space with TVs and internet . . . as well as lots of gym equipment, weights, fitness classes etc etc :laughing:

I don’t use that particular one myself but I have been to our local David Lloyd gym in the past as a guest. My regular gym doesn’t have all the above, it purely about the weights and fitness training, they do have a couple of vending machines, but that’s it. The one I go to for body balance, there are a few of my gym mates there, who have memberships, and they spend the day there making full use of all their facilities. So they’ll shower there, there are hairdryers available in the changing rooms, they even eat and watch tv there. These are folk who are also on pensions, so while they’re there, they’re making savings at home on heating, electricity, water, etc. The benefits for them are the social aspect of it meeting people, making new friends, as well as the fitness benefits and they’re keeping both their minds and bodies active. They are all there for the same reasons you would be, so well worth thinking about. It helps reduce loneliness and boredom and stops you dwelling so much on the past and worrying about what can’t be helped. It would put a spring in your step and get those feel good endorphins fired up and pumping through your body :wink:

Hello @Chlodog - you can copy and paste the link to the internet page on which your article resides.

For example, the below link is to the page “Share your story” on the Stroke Association website.

You can also use the Link icon to open a “Insert link” window, paste/type in URL in the [Link or topic] field and add optional text in the [Link text] field and then click the [Insert] button.

I wanted to share this in with hope that it might provide a spark for those contemplating starting a gym type program. Also, I live in the u.s. I’m not sure anybody here would even know what the outer banks ymca is. I live on a barrier island referred to as the outer banks and the YMCA is my community fitness center. For me, there’s so much more to a gym than weights and treadmills.

Thank you for sharing. It looks like you have found something that helps you. It is always good to read of others experiences as it gives ideas of things we can all consider.

Hey Jonathan - thank you for sharing this. Looks like you and Cookie are benefiting from this hugely.

I am sure anyone reading your article will be inspired to look up and join a similar program if available in their locale.

I am not sure how widely any organised water based classes are, but if they are I think they would be hugely beneficial.

Wishing you and Cookie all the best.

:pray:
