On Sunday for the first time I tried out my basic metal detector kit on a local beach.
I have mobility issues having had a stroke and have been waiting for this chance for some time.
I didn’t manage to recover anything from the sand but did meet a member of a detectorist group who gave me some tips and a bullet to practice with. I picked up a bottle top in the car park and will be coming back for more practice.
I had a pleasant couple of hours, discovered that I could detect successfully and met another detectorist for a chat.
Who could want for more?
If I find gold I don’t think I’d be able to do the dance, though.
Wind surfing looks a bit challenging too.
Yes, you can detect disabled, slow ‘n’ steady wins the race.
I bought that metal detector a couple of years ago when I was housebound and scarcely getting around. I promised myself it would get me walking.
So finally I have got down to it.
I’m still only tottering about but I can get out, I do get some fresh air, this detectorist thing is fun and my walk might improve. Plus folk have been very kind and helpful.
