Milestone achievement

Did you paint that, Roland? That is a beautiful painting! I love the visual arts.

How are you, by the way?

I haven’t been on much lately as I’ve had a severe viral infection in my eyes this past month. I was basically going blind; I also had debilitating light sensitivity, burning sensations like fire in my eyes – just felt overall very, very ill, like I had a severe stomach virus or something. My eyes were fire engine red, and everyone told me to go to the eye doctor’s, but I held off until my infection was severe.

I was told that my condition would have forced me to the emergency room had I waited another week. They gave me steroid eye drops and bandage contact lenses to heal my eyes. Things are much better now. I was told that if things are not almost healed on Monday, that I may need stem cell contacts put in my eyes to heal the damage.

I hope you are all doing somewhat okay on here. Take good care.

Hello my friend, Matthew

of course I wondered how you were, and noticed your absence. I do hope the steroid eye drops clean up your eyes; do let us know how that is going. I wonder what triggered that, but I can think of 1 thing that was clearly causing you a lot of grief. Anyway I hope it continues to improve.

Yes, I do a bit of painting, but nothing this last week as I was so busy with research, recovery and rehab. This weekend saw the return of my proprioception. So a big celebration, and an end to 17 months of living in no man’s land. It’s a fascinating story. My leg still has a problem free day followed by a locked glute day, only now I get a twisted foot along with it, and many other problems with my leg muscles / fascia. My radiologist friend says I should be a clinical case study; apparently my brain has developed unheard of methods in coping with my recovery.

I’m glad to have news from you; I welcome the reconnection,
take care, and speak soon, ciao, Roland

Hello, dear friend.

I have to say that I sympathize deeply with those with eye issues. Many stroke patients suffer with permanent eye conditions, and all I can say is “God love them!” I would have never thought that an eye infection could wreak such havoc on my well-being. I am about 70% recovered - still not out of the woods, as they say.

Roland, you inspire me - and you always have since I met you on here. It is no surprise that your mind has been found to be stronger than you could have ever imagined. Mind over body - and you’re living it, dear friend! Haola!

To all others on here – never give up in your daily struggle to get better. We keep getting up, every time we’re knocked down.

Love and peace to you all! Take good care. :grinning:

Yes, dear friend, I am grateful for your sympathy. It’s been difficult, but nothing like you all have gone through.

Again, thank you for thinking of me.

Take good care.

Wish I could …. But I cannot reach my feet anymore due to spinal probs plus problems with hip and knee both on same size, mean I just cannot get to them, so I have a chiropodist to come to my house regularly to trim nails and everything etc …. No way I can reach to tie laces, but neither can I wear shoes with a tongue cos no way can I get to them to pull them up … good thing I love to wear sandals which I can push my feet into and not needing to touch … I have even invented
a way for washing and drying feet too …. Can’t wear socks either

Ismeval,
Are your spinal issues able to be eased with exercise or any herbal remedies? I have a herbalist who makes up a rub to keep inflammation minimal of my arthritic knee, a pre stroke challenge.
There are aids for shoes.
I am trying to redesign a trainer to help overcome stroke challenges. I have a good PPE company I use who do trainers without velcro or a need to tie laces. Your right the tongue is an issue, softer ones are better.
An open shoe you could just put your foot on its inner sole then the body encases your foot snuggly, that is my ideal shoe/trainer.

Hi Mikey, I have spinal stenosis which means for me I have a prominint disc or whatever which can sometimes press on the spinal cord … good thing I like to be upright as much as I can (old army training ha ha) I do what I can, then when back is aching too much I just take a rest, same with arthritis which has meant I can no longer do all the embroidery I used to do …… just ache too much not worth trying …. As for shoes, I can’t reach the tongue at all and getting a shoe on just rolls the tongue up inside, so soft is no good …. Good thing I like sandals whatever the weather
