Hi

Bit hard to relate our experiences to any of the specifics of your case but normally after stroke I think most people report weight loss!

You don’t say what you’re meds are now nor what you’re pre TIA exercise regime and diet was.

I think the GP referral to weight management services would probably give you the most answers.

There are quite a few posts on here about PFOs. Evenly split I would say between those that are acknowledged and managed with medications and those that are acknowledged and closed via simple outpatient procedure. You’ll be able to find other people’s stories by using the magnifying glass to search.

PS
On a slightly different note. A T I A is T for temporary - so if you are still the experiencing deficits then Your event was a stroke. Same causal mechanism but permanent consequences in the case of a stroke.

Rampril is an ACE inhibitor, cloppi a antiplatelet & atrovo for lowering cholesterol.

Old gen of beta blockers had a reputation for belly fat and mayo clinic says ram pril may cause a kilo in 6 months

Cloppi is generally associated with a weight loss because of effect on taste and appetite but I found at least one article on weight gain & management

The British Heart Foundation notes that statins causing aches and pains may lead to less exercise and thus some weight gain see here And you have to scroll down the way down the page

The summary I would say nothing obvious or terribly common…

“weight gain is not typically listed as a known side effect of clopidogrel. While some individuals may have reported weight gain while taking this medication…”

Although uncommon, some statins have been linked with a small amount of weight gain

Maybe water retention from Ace inhibitor? Any swelling? lower back pain?
Maybe you’re gaining weight from gym? muscles are heavier than fat

As @pando has suggested, it could just be muscle gain from your fitness regime. I’ve had a similar weight gain since I started my fitness, but my weight had plummeted below ideal weight after the stroke due to the muscle wastage. I’m a good weight now, though can’t seem to shift the belly fat, but I’m not complaining as all that weight is muscle, which weighs more than fat.

Some medications do cause weight gain but as others have said so can building up muscle. 3 hours a day is quite a lot of gym work so that may account for some of it. If you’re really trying & it’s not coming off then a chat with your GP may be needed to see if they can offer any advice.
