Magnesium - Should You Be Taking Magnesium Supplements?

I am sharing this because I found it interesting.
It may or may not be of interest to you.
I personally like this Doctor’s videos.

Should You Be Taking Magnesium Supplements? A Doctor Explains

It is a subject that has previously been written about and discussed on this forum.
It is also a subject on which we have had experience of Mg levels dropping as a result of side effects from being put onto PPIs (Proton Pump Inhibitor Medications - Omeprazole/Lansoprazole after a GERD (chronic acid reflux) diagnosis).

Watching this video helped me better understand what might have happened to us.

I appreciate it may not apply to everyone.

Right at the end, the doctor’s message is

"It is not a universal fix that everyone should take automatically. Used properly, Magnesium isn’t a short cut. It’s a support tool. It works best when it’s used deliberately based on your symptoms and context and layered on tap of the fundamentals which are:

  • Good sleep
  • stress management
  • real food
  • regular movement

It is not a replacement for them."

Magnesium is an essential mineral that powers hundreds of biochemical reactions in the human body, including energy creation, DNA repair, and muscle regulation. It is a fundamental building block for a healthy life and must be continuously supplied through our daily diets. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Why Magnesium Matters

Every cell in the human body requires magnesium to function properly

Mgnesium helps sleep. Therefore we can’t follow the healthy-living protocols quoted without it. Speaking as someone for whom sleep has always been elusive, magnesium creates a healing environment. Sleep in hospital is always difficult.

I watched the video but kept getting interrupted by adverts for Exhales ridiculously expensive coffee.
