I had an aneurysm in May 2021.i was in a coma for a few weeks then spent 4years at a rehab hospital.now I’m in a care home with little rehab.I’m so very lonely and hate being here the only joy in my life is when one of my 3 daughters visits me.and the occasional friend.
It’s good to meet you. You are always welcome in this community and there are loads of good folk to talk with. We are just people like any other and I’m sure you will find others here who will help you feel less alone.
Don’t be a stranger.
I had a stroke about 3 years ago and am just about getting used the world as I find it now.
Hi @Mich-mm, just jumped on to say hello and welcome to our community. We are a merry band of stroke survivors and their carers and families and we have a wealth of experience and information to share. So don’t feel lonely, there’s always someone here to offer information and advice if you need it or someone to listen if you want to have a rant or you need a shoulder to cry on.
I hope you will find this a useful place to be and look forward to hearing from you.
Regards Sue
That’s so good that you have your loving daughters I’m sure that boosts your spirits enormously and you can sit and reflect on their visit when they aren’t there looking forward to their next visit.
I felt that hospital was a lonely place and when I went to a rehabilitation one as although you have people around you it’s still not your loved ones is it.
Welcome to the Stroke Association forum, I’ve virtually meet some really lovely helpful people on her and equally just to feel not alone as we all have things somewhere in common. Nice to “ meet” you if you need to talk or need help the stroke association are here for you there helpline is here

Anyone else had a cranioplasty or cranieotomy like me.The surgeons did a cranieotomy (removal of skull on me but it became infected and had to be removed.I then started to show signs of cognition that’s when doctor’s decided to put me forward for a cranioplasty(metal sheet in place of the skull they removed. The change in pressure restored my brain function and I was back!my memory is thankfully intact with gaps of the stroke itself and some confusion here and there.
Is the photo of you & your daughters? They look really happy people & I am sure you are very proud of them. As they no doubt are you.
Living in a care home must be difficult for you. I felt bad enough after a short stay in hospital. But glad you have family & friends to visit you.
Pop into the community if you need some company or just have some questions. There is usually someone who will reply.
Look forward to seeing you around more.
