Hi my name is John. And have been on the site previously but due to going back to work fell by the wayside.
I am after trying to improve my writing skills, speech and try and get some confidence back in speaking to people when at work, my work force and client.
Any advice will be taking on board thanks
Hi John, hope being back at work is going well. This probay isnt a huge help but I think a lot of it is just practice, practice & practice. You could try talking more when not at work practising the sort of things you need to say when at work. I don’t know what sort of work you do but maybe have a script if thats appropriate. As the rest improves your confidence should start to come back.
There are many free online confidence building courses / resources. Have a google and see if you can find one for your particular need.
Best wishes
Ann
Hi @John2773 welcome to the forum. For speech and confidence @Bobbi might be able to help with that with his video calls. He’ll explain better when he comes along, but a some members from here, join in video conferencing with him for similar reasons.
I have mild aphasia and get together with 2 other members from here for similar reasons. Last night was basically reading aloud, telling jokes and a bit of general banter. But we do like to keep it as small as possible so we all get a chance to get a word in edgeways
Also check with the Stroke Support Helpline: 0303 3033 100, there might be a local aphasia group near you which you could attend, it might help.
Reading out loud and writing out passages from any reading materials, tracing letters/shapes etc, helps. I had my stroke during the lockdowns so this was sort of thing I did.
