and this is me as I run out of words, trying to talk to you about the keep on keepin’ on channel and group.

Hi @Trace57

I appreciate your comments.

Many thanks

and this is our group

https://www.stroke.org.uk/finding-support/clubs-and-groups/keep-keepin

I also do a bit of chatting on my blog at

I hope that by sharing our experience of stroke we can make some progress dealing with this very different world in which we find ourselves.

Chatting on this forum is an excellent place to start. You will find you are not alone. There are ways to move forward in this very different and strange new world.

My advice, move forward to a better place, make good use of any support offered, don’t waste time trying to go backwards into the past.

You are strong enough to continue despite all the ups and downs. Rest when you need to. Be glad for each success no matter how small.

@Bobbi
Great start, keep moving forward, I wish I had your confidence to do what you are doing.

@MarnieT

I’ve only been on the stroke scene for three years.
I probably wouldn’t look half as confident if I knew what I was doing.

I must admit though I often put something up then afterwards think “Why on earth did I do or say that?”.

You seem to be confident to me. I’m coming up to the three mark this summer and it’s the first time I’ve used this forum. I still have many questions, the answers to which I may never find. The worst fear, though, is the fear of fear itself. So, Bobbi, I wish you well in your journey. ’ Baby steps’, as a friend of mine used to tell me when faced with adversity. Adieu, Simon.

I reached my third anniversary a couple of months ago.

I sway about quite a bit Simon. In more ways than one.

Sometimes it’s dare do it and disregard the consequences, suddenly lurching into terrified certainty that this was not the way to go. Never boring, sometimes entertaining. Occasionally bruising, very rarely triumphant.

Just life really and making a restart rather than a recovery.

It’s all a bit mysterious, no maps, occasional flash of light. Oh dear here I go writing another prose poem.

Hi @simon2, just stopped to say welcome to the community. This is a very active community so you will find many many answers on here, all from fellow stroke survivors and carers. There’s a few questions that go unanswered for me, anywhere on the internet. I’ve come to the conclusion the vocabulary to describe/explain them hasn’t been invented yet so the medical world remains in the dark as to their existence :smirking_face:

Hi, Bobbi. What is a prose poem? I’ve been writing poetry for a while now but it’s probably only prose. On the cover of the three collections I’ve written, I ask that very question. It’s only words put in a certain order. Anyway, if you have no maps and it’s all a bit mysterious, it’s another part of the journey. I’m glad you’re communicating. Just don’t bruise yourself too often. Hasta luego, Simon.

Lorraine, that was a pleasant welcome, thanks. I’m not one to join on line communities but I’m sure there is information out there to help me. If there is no vocabulary which explains situations peculiar to yourself, just invent them. It happens all the time. Esperanto was invented as an international language and it’s perfectly functional . Pity it never took on. Medical jargon is tricky to say the least but, as I see in this forum, keep on keeping on. But take a break sometimes.
Good luck with your vocabularic quest. I must have invented that last word, I could be a politician.
Adieu, Simon.
