hi all , im post stroke some 20 yrs but my bro in law has recently had a major stroke (cerebellum) and he ives on the Isle of Wight! one of his major issues is vertigo and its really dibilitating for him, does anyone have any therapeutic help they can pass onto me (hes 12 weeks post stroke) ideally and a long shot , is there anyone on the island who has eperience of this who may be able to offer any practical support to both my bro and my sister in law ? hoping for a positive experience Andy
I do not live on the Isle of Wight but have experience of cerebellar stroke, the issues he may be facing relate to proprioception which is the body and brain’s awareness of movement and space. I found Tai Chi to be a fairly effective way to start gaining control back of movement and sight but I still have cognitive visual-spatial issues I continue to rehabilitate every day.
Hi @Bouvierboy and welcome to the community. Sorry to hear of your brother in laws major stroke and the vertigo he is suffering. It really is a debilitating thing to suffer from. I don’t live on the Isle of Wight so have no knowledge
of what is available there. I suffered dizziness after my stroke and despite many hospital appointments and discussions with the GP the only thing they were able to offer me was some meds for the nausea that came with it. I didn’t take them for long though
as they gave me horrid headaches. Overtime the dizziness has eased but it hasn’t gone away. I guess I have also learnt to deal with it better.
@Rups has mentioned something that helps him and I know he has had to deal with a similar thing so that definitely might be worth a try.
I hope things settle for him soon.
Thank you for your reply
Much appreciated

Thanks @Anna_Moderator , I’ll pass the number to my sister in law she may well find it useful, I had a major stroke in 04 and the S/A were most helpful, after which I joined a few forums in the London HQ thank you for your message
Andy
