Inclirisan injection

Following her stroke my wife was prescribed 80mg Atorvastin but soon experienced painful legs. The HASU team changed to this to 10mg Ezetimibe which did reduce the leg pain. But this was found insufficient to reduce LDL cholesterol so 40mg Atorvastin was prescribed in addition. The leg pain returned along with hard and ‘lumpy’ calves.

HASU suggested that if the statin continued to cause problems our Doctor should consider Inclirisan injections, replacing the Atorvastin and Ezetimibe. This has now been approved starting next week.

Has anyone any experience of this relatively new treatment.
Thanks

No but if there is one statin that continues to come up in discussion, respecting side-effects, it seems to be Atorvastin.

@DavidG11 i suffer seizures since my stroke 2020. i was prescribed both the above, tolerate Ezetimibe as it gave me motion sickness. I to was given Inclisaran but suffered a big seizure on it, my consultant told me that was not a side affect, after my second injection of it I had 4 more seizures. It was agreed for me to stop it, as there might be a link to it, or I might be allergic to an ingredient in it. i am currently on Atorvastatin 80mg at night. I have a new cholesterol consultant, who i have as yet not met. hopefully my levels are still okay. I did yellow cad my seizures just let others know that it could happen to them.

Rups makes a good point about artorvastatin it does get a lot of mentions. That said im on it (80ml at might) and so far nothing unpleasant but it’s good to have the awareness and watch out. Im still quite new to it all. It’s important to be aware and look out for ourselves/loved ones. Theres a lot of knowledge here thanks to people all talking it’s so good - Thank you.

Hi, it’s been available a few years now but is relatively new. The side effect profile is very good. It’s extremely good at reducing cholesterol.
