hi, just wandered if anyone would be interested in getting a kind of group together, for people who live on their own, thanks,
Maybe… I live alone but stayed with someone for 5 weeks when I left hospital. Coming back home was quite hard and scary. I dont have much of a local support network.
A few of us from this forum have a Whatsapp group.
It’s informal, friendly and relaxed.
I can message you a link if you are interested and want to take a look.
No commitment required.
@s00001 - there may be local stroke support groups where you live if you are mobile. If you are housebound then perhaps @Bobbi 's WhatsApp group may offer you some company.
Also, I believe the Stroke Association offers a service where someone can call you for a chat and they also run exercise classes that you can join in online.
I am sure someone will have details on how you can access these services. I’ll tag in Anna our moderator to see if she can point you in the right direction.
Thanks @ManjiB for highlighting some of the options ![]()
@s00001 as ManjiB has mentioned, we do offer a few different types of support, depending on what works best for you:
- Stroke Support Groups - find a stroke support group online or in your area.
- Online Activities - join friendly online sessions, from group exercise to social chat.
- Weekly Volunteer Calls - recieve a friendly weekly phone call from a trained volunteer.
You can also see everything in one place here: Support and guidance overview | Stroke Association
If you’re not sure what would suit you best, that’s completely fine, the page above will help you explore the options at your own pace. And if you have any questions, just let us know and we’re happy to help.
