Hi, everyone!

Hi, all. I’m new here. 5 weeks post stroke - I don’t think I have had it as bad as some people on here. Nevertheless, it is a struggle.

Good to know there is a community out there!

Hello and welcome to the forum @Richard4 . It’s good you have joined us early in your journey post-stroke and it’s good that you feel you’ve not had it as bad as some - that is great positive attitude to have and it will help you are you travel this path. There will be ups and downs on this journey and there are no right or wrong things to do - you must identify what works for you as an individual and you must listen to your body as this is absolutely the best feedback you will get.

I also like to remind everyone the importance of knowing what medications you are on, what they are for, for how long you should take them and what side effects they may present. Please do not take medications “blindly” just because the doctors tell you - listen to your body first and the doctors second. This may sound “dramatic” but it is something I feel passionate about and for good reason.

Wishing you all the best.

Welcome to the forum, @Richard4 . It’s a friendly place and you’ll learn a lot on here. Stroke recovery can be a long journey with surprises, both good and not so good, on the way. A positive attitude helps but doesn’t guarantee there won’t be times when being fed up prevails, although hopefully not for long. Looking forward to hearing more about you, when you’re ready.

Shwmae Richard, five weeks is a mere lint in the bellybutton of stroke rehabilitation but I hope the forum may engage you and help you come to terms with the issues you may face post stroke.

Welcome Richard but I’m sorry yo hear of your recent stroke. This forum is a good place to be, the SA offer so much help, support and advice and you’ll find everyone is friendly and helpful too. Your recovery is just beginning but remember when you need advice or just want to shout feel free to do it here. We all need some support at some point so don’t feel afraid or embarrassed to ask, we’re a friendly bunch. I’m 22 months post stroke, still trying to recover my legs mostly, but I get very tired and lack energy, so it’s all to do with recovery and the journey we’re all now on. So I wish you well as you start to gain strength and understanding of the toll a stroke can take, but always remain positive, its hard, but something we must try and do. Take care and very best wishes for the future.
