I get fed up because I don’t look ill but since my stroke 7 years ago I get a terrible headache after waking every other morning lasting all day… It feels like a bad sinus headache but buried deep in my brain where my stroke was. I take stuff to releave the pain but it doesn’t really go. I obstinately refuse to let it rule my life but it does get me down. I lie down a lot and because I live alone I keep myself as busy as possible when I can. However my motivation is nil at times but I buy and sell Collectables on eBay.
I feel bitter at times because nobody understands what it feels like. My marriage broke up and so did a friendship and sometimes it’s just too hard. I have mobility trouble as well as fatigue. One thing I’ve realised is that trying to explain is useless so I just battle on and try to be cheerful and optimistic.
@Rosamund sorry to hear you suffer these debilitating headaches so frequently. Have you spoken to a dr recently about them? Perhaps they can do something to help you.
It’s good that you try to keep busy & not letting it rule your life. Hopefully that helps take your kind of it for a while.
It’s very difficult for someone who hasn’t experienced it to understand it. I guess I didn’t until I had my stroke.
Sending you my very best wishes.
Ann xx
I am sorry also to hear about the headaches, and also all your disappointments that have come your way, but know what you mean. No nonstrokers understand! I try and keep most to my self except improvements and try and push through and keep active.
Best to you and in future. Hopefully the best is to come.
Thank you very much.
I was having a bad day but thank you very much.
Hi Rosamund,
I have no headaches but the rest of your story sounds similar to mine. I also wear hearing aids cause I have tinnitus in my right ear and was diagnosed with SNHL.
I hope your headaches subside soon. Walking is good exercise.
Hi Rosamund,
Just wondering what you tell people who ask how you are doing. I tell them I am OK.
I don’t usually get asked because I don’t look ill I just say I’m ok but usually I’m chattering about anything but not health.
It’s weird how some days I’m good and others not. Because I volunteer at an art gallery I go and do it whether I’m ok or not. I’m forgetful too and have recently used my iPad to contact me and remind me.
Mindfulness helps us accept our shortcomings and can save us from bitterness.
you say every other day… how regular is that ?
do you mean “as an average” or literally “every other day”?
hope it improves, good luck,
Roland
It’s roughly every other day. My doctor thinks I might have migraines or post nasal drips. Because I’ve only seen him very rarely I try to make the best of it. Panadol.
Hi Rosamund,
I also am forgetful but only sporadically. So, I use the reminder function of my iPhone.
Rick
I ask because I have muscle spasms every other day
regular as clockwork
good luck, hope you improve
ciao Roland
Thanks Rick. I’ve discovered a memory function in my iPad and it’s hugely helpful.
Thanks. It’s like one day ok and one day not.
Since iPad uses IOS I would expect it to include everything that is on the phone. I hope you are automatically applying updates.
