Amy Gledhill: Hailing from Hull, she is a multi-award-winning stand-up and actor celebrated for her brilliantly funny and delightfully northern storytelling.
Billy Pearce: A legendary mainstay of Yorkshire variety and the northern comedy circuit, renowned for his physical comedy and quick wit.
Jessica Knappett: From Bradford, she is the brilliant mind behind the E4 sitcom Drifters and is also well-known for her appearance on Dave’s Taskmaster.
Charlie Williams: The late, great Barnsley comedian who made television history. A former professional footballer, he became one of the first prominent Black stand-ups on UK television, famous for his catchphrase “me old flower”
Sadly we are lacking comedians in Shropshire but here’s a few:
Greg Davies. Born in St Asaph but raised in Wem, Shropshire. Known for his towering stature and booming delivery, Davies is a renowned stand-up, star of The Inbetweeners and Man Down, and the host of the hit panel show Taskmaster.
Jo Brand - ok she wasn’t from Shropshire but does have kinks here & got married here & her mother lived here.
Frank Skinner - West Brom technically but that’s close enough for me
Alistair McGowan: The famed impressionist, actor, and writer, known for The Big Impression, has lived in Ludlow, Shropshire since 2020. Cheating again
Dru Cripps: Hailing from Oswestry, he is a unique comic who specializes in silent comedy and has been featured on BBC Sounds.
