I just wondered if anyone was left with a hand tremor after their stroke. I lost the use of my left side but some movement in my arm and hand now but find trying to flip coins over or things like that results in my fingers going mad and what ever I’m trying to hold or move gets knock over or dropped. I can sort of control it to a degree. When was in hospital my occupational therapist made me feel like this was usual as a result of a stroke so wondered if anyone else end end up with one?
I didn’t have anything like this pre stroke and its worse when the more I try and use it. I’ve been on medication to help but it made no difference . They recon it will eventually go …
Hi classiccarfan—I also lost the use of my left side after my stroke. I didn’t have hand tremors as I began therapy. But I did have leg muscle seizures. Maybe it’s from the nerves adjusting to the brain signals. My leg seizures would come about once a minute, after I got into bed at night. I’ve written about his before on this web site. I calmed it down with CBD. But ultimately they gradually faded away over time. In my case it was several months. But again, each stroke case is totally different. Jeanne
Hi classiccarfan. I have something similar since my stroke (2 years ago today). It isn’t hand tremors, but I lost the use of my right side which I have now regained some movement back, but my right hand will suddenly open on its own accord and I have no idea it’s going to happen. I’ve dropped cups, my knife when I’m eating and other things when I’ve thought it’s okay to use, it just proves me wrong. I haven’t any answers but I still have problems with my hand. It is annoying and frustrating so I understand how you feel. I hope the tremors will eventually stop for you, but it may just be our nerves are damaged and taking time to heal and settle down. I’m sorry I can’t give you a proper answer, but hope it helps to know others have a similar annoying problem. I wish you well on your recovery
Hi @classiccarfan, like you lost the sense of feeling and power in my left hand 19 months ago and got most back through physio and some determination. I have a little stiffness/residual weakness still but was complicated by pre-existing injury from an ice carving accident when I was a chef. No range of movement in my thumb as such, I’m still learning to adapt and only real issue is counting paper money or small complex movements. But I still use my kids toy Spike Mikey a spiked squishy ball daily to help.
