Has anyone else had any problems since stroke with digestive and gut

It took me 18 months for it to settle. Try Acidophilus Extra 4 Nature’s Best (probiotic). Good luck

Oh yes. My digestive system seems to have a mind of its own these days. I have to carefully manage things but think I have just about found the right balance.

You can get a better idea here on how to manage neuroinflammation
Rebuilding your brain after a stroke or brain injury (overview) I, II & III
which you can listen to on https://www.brain.rehab/

It will take an hour of your time, but there is a lot to learn
good luck

Please remember that many of the meds that we’re put on can have side affects associated with the digestive tract so any issues that you’re experiencing may not be directly related to your stroke itself.

Also the 30 min talk on “Supercharge your brain with nutrition and life style changes masterclass” is excellent on the gut. There are many great tips, but I will just highlight the section on fermented foods, and drinking a little Apple-Cider vinegar for your gut.
Good luck, pando

Let me know if you’re finding it helpful (or not). There’s a lot to take in, but a plethora of great tips on how to look after the gut. One technique I have been working on is meditation, where I connect with my vagus nerve (which connects brain to gut). My pulse lowers in seconds, breathing deepens and my gut settles.
Good luck, R

I can’t use apple cider vinegar, it almost burnt my stomach …. Best thing is “Healthspan’s” triple pre, pro, post biotic capsules …

Initially suffered from severe acid indigestion and had many sleepless nights.

I got my blood thinner changed from clopidogrel back to aspirin and used gaviscon for a few days and it sorted itself out.

I got one bout of acid indigestion and put it down to a funny weekend but no problems since then.

Dear all,

I am generally fine but find when i fall slightly out of routine with eating medication, food times and then any late snacks you get acid indigestion.

Find a good routine and stick to it no matter where you are to keep this in check.

Dear All

To follow up on this, I do agree that you digestive system does become funny every now and then.

I get through about 2-3 weeks of it being fine and then get one night where my stomach feels funny and i can’t get to sleep.

I recover in the morning but then feel very tired all day having had so little sleep.

You do just need to find a good routine and stick to it.

We’ll get there in the end.
