Getting wet ion my scooter

Our usual midday dog walk ended up in a race for home as th heavens opened and drenched me the dog and my good lady. It was bound to happen sooner or later but it was today.

Apart from being damp no harm done the machine was put away and left to evaporate the water away

Summer rain is not such a bad thing

We have had torrential rain here today too. Definitely not a day for going walking but dogs need walks whatever the weather.

Glad all was ok apart from getting drenched.

No not to bad , just me being a worry pot over getting an electric scooter wet not drenched that came later thankfully

I have to admit that being out either in the rain or when it is wet does concern me. I’m not at all sure my scooter and water are compatible.

Also in this country, with its weather, I think I am going to be quite limited this Autumn and Winter.

Nevertheless I’m glad you and your scooter were okay Mark.

I think you have a similar scooter to the one I used whilst in Devon last year. It was very wet when out & about & the scooter coped well. I wouldn’t want to do it often but as long as you’re not trying to drive theough floods it will probably be ok. I on the other hand needed better wet weather clothing

Thanks @Mrs5K

I needed to hear that and must get some sort of hat and maybe a bicycle cape or some such.

I am tempted now to be a bit more adventurous.

I’m getting memories of schooldays, cold, wet knees and a soggy cape to contend with.

Parents didn’t taxi you to and from school in those days.

Sat by a radiator gently steaming.

A hat and cape sound very sensible. If only I had had them when I was scootering in a heavy downpour

Oh yes I remember those walks to school in all weathers and arriving soggy and having to dry out. Those were the days…not a care in the world.

Happy adventures when you’re feeling better od course .

Thanks Bobbi we live to fight another day
I noticed on my travels a scooter like mine under a cover outside someone’s house exact same model so not having the cozyes life in a garage mine has, I guess not everyone has that facility but condensation is the killer of all things electric and worse than a brief shower. Lots of corrosion and battery degradation.

I found an ideal cycling cape on Ebay for only ÂŁ7.99.

I don’t think I’ll order that one.

Post and packaging ÂŁ59.99.

Ouch Bobbi that seems steep

Hi Bobbi - that sounds like a typo to me, but even at £5.99 that seems a lot given most eBay items are sold with “free delivery”.

If you liked it and would buy it if the postage was right then I am sure you can contact the seller to ask what’s with the £59.99 postage deal

Then again, I am sure there are plenty of alternatives

I got 50ft away from the back door and the heavens opened. I can only just walk so me trying to run looked li me I was on a hobby horse trying to trot, I’m sure the neighbours had a good laugh, it was a funny sight and I got soaked. Made me laugh.

That made me chuckle @Russ1. Sorry. I can’t imagine what I look like trying to run…i can’t even manage a decent walk. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’m I awe awe of the thought of running anywhere, walking pain free and fluidly would be me in a happy place, the running is a step up from that basic experience

The best I can manage is a shuffle - but I have aspirations to get back to my running one day. A long way off I suspect.

Me to on wanting to run again and it being a long way off.
Next January is the five year anniversary so really at the beginning of the recovery I feel.
If I was ten years down the line I’d expect my condition to be permanently set or very little scope to improve

Is it the case Mr. Frederickson that on the 10 anniversary of your stroke you expect to be fully recovered? I think you might be fully recovered by then if not sooner.

permanently set = fully recovered
little scope to improve = 100% recovered

In 5 years you could achieve so much.

Do you set yourself any goals?

Exponential recovery - as bits fall into place, recovery rate increases

Hi plenty of goals from cycling to driving and gardening, I need some breakthrough in pain and upper limb mobility to see me well on the way,
But currently I’m plugging away living life and doing anything a hobbling one armed man can do.
