From an envious gardener, what a good selection of different flowers hope you have extended the flowering season by planting late flowering things , hydrangeas were a specialty of mine and now some super ones are now available. Hope you’ve got sedums and Michaelmas daisies for butterflies. Your husband’s done excellent job landscaping
it looks lovely - only beginning here as we have had an extension and while the front looks OK the back is a right mess. Planted up some herbs (basil, mint and coriander) today. They are spindly little things but I hope they’ll do better outside than in the potting shed
Patience project via gardening. I decided to use gardening to learn some patience. I ordered some gloriosa (flame lily) seeds. I planted the 7 seeds, kept them watered and warm. They all germinated. Only took 3 months.
May take 3 years to bring on to a plant which flowers. Have only grown these from tubers before which will flower in the same year. If this doesn’t teach me patience then I am beyond help.![]()
@JuliaH I’m sure they’ll be worth all the patience when you see them flower ![]()
Looking great @Rups
You must have green fingers ![]()

Diolch @Mrs5K, I’m okay with fruit, not great with veggies and flowers. ![]()
This morning’s haul. Not as exotic as your cape gooseberries @Rups but the British variety. Loved them since I was a child in my Dad’s garden. I have to do a picking everyday at the moment which takes time. Being wobbly next to viciously thorny bushes is a challenge but the spoils are worth it. ![]()

@Rups I’m no good with fruit, veggies or flowers. Very good at killing them off
I leave all things garden to hubby ![]()

@JuliaH they look very yummy ![]()
Hope you fight back with those thorny bushes ![]()

Hi outdoor types, would have put up photo of an egg one of our chucks had just laid , but before I could harvest it, it was eaten by one of her sisters ! Happens now again with chickens, maybe a thin shelled egg broke and one got a taste for it. An old trick was to fill an empty shell with mustard to cure the egg pecker
. But the Chucks are a wonderful distraction out in garden.
@Loshy hi Loraine, your garden is looking lovely. So nice to see all the flowers. Hubby has done a great job.![]()

Hi Loshy if you could send me a close up I’m sure I could tell you but with dodgy vision I’d confidently say Hebe or spirea .insects love Hebes
Yep a Spiraea tough as old boots but very reliable. Every year cut out some of the thicker stems. You can get ones with yellow or golden foliage still with pink flowers ,Golden Princess (yellow foliage) and Goldflame with rich orange bronze foliage but not a spike a pink spay like an elderflower. At most garden centres. Happy gardening, hot here today spent most of day watering.
Hi @Loshy. Your garden looks beautiful. I’m glad @Pds has answered your query. To me it is a pretty pink flowering shrub👍. It’s a bit like wine I know nothing other than if I like it or not😂. There are still things yet to flower in my garden that I do not have a clue what they are, I have no memory of how or why they are there, it’s like a magical mystery tour when I have a poke about with some lovely surprises. What’s not to love? Take care, Julia x
Hi The Green fingered Bunch. Just read the last two posts .Had a lightning Flash/epiphany I was a passionate plantsman before being Walloped
, now I can help you and you can help me by sending me plants to identify that will help my old noggin to re wire. Could hazard a confident guess from most photos but a close up would be better. Feel spoiled since Rups created this Gardening post-stroke site as the natural world and gardening has been my life almost 60 years a professional gardener.
Hello @Pds. Brilliant idea. Will be posting but it all comes with a disclaimer, don’t put yourself under any pressure, Julia x
Your gardens look lovely - Im still waiting for a patio to finish our garden off but meanwhile I am enjoying my herbs from seed in pots- a good way to keep hydrated
Hello @FionaB1 . What sort of herbs do you have in it? I enjoy chocolate mint which grows rampantly here, Julia x
