FORUM GAMES - Word Play

The UK also has a STRANGE tradition. Once a year in Gloucestershire many many people attend a cheese rolling event where they throw themselves down a very steep hill after some cheese.

When I heard of cheese rolling, I thought they rolled cheese down the hill. Ihad no idea they throw themselves down after it!!
One of the things that dogs love best is when you THROW a ball for them to chase or catch. This dog is determined not to let any ball go uncaught.

Kids often play British Bulldog where the “Bulldog” has to CHASE & try and catch you as you cross from one side of the area to the other.

Interesting …

I had never heard of this game “British Bulldog” until now.
Having seen your post and how the game is played, it rather looks to me as this might be a variant of the game Kabaddi which is a popular game played in South Asian countries.

Its history goes back 200 years, but the modern kabaddi was popularised in India with first organised competitions occurring in the 1920s.

According to Wikipedia, British Bulldog did not appear until the 1930s.

British Bulldog, British rule in India …coincidence?

This forum is soooooooooooooooooooh educational

I think it’s a lovely hair style, too. But maybe that’s because I had the same one. In fact, I pretty much wore that style most of my life.

If you need to CROSS the street, one expects it will be safer if one crosses in a crosswalk. But some crosswalks are very confusing. Take for instance the Shibuya Ctossing in Japan. You wouldn’t have to worry about being run over by an automobile, but you might get run over by a person.

Oh wow that’s a lot of people

When children have to cross the road to get to school there’s often a lollopop lady (or man) to help them cross over SSFELY.

It sounds like it could be the same game. I wonder if the British Rule in India might have had something to so with it. They definitely beat the British to it though

Yes, I believe so.
Snooker was also invented in India by British army officers.
Carrom is a game that is similar to snooker but played with discs instead of balls. It is also big in India.

People love to travel and see the world, but sometimes TOURISTS can be most annoying!

Do you remember those long car journies as kids where you were ANNOYING your parents by constantly asking “Are we there yet”.

Once babies take their first STEP there is no stopping them.

STOPPING a dog from chasing a cat is a difficult thing to do, since it seems to be almost instinct for a dog to chase a cat. We had a cat that knew how to handle it herself, much like this one.

Yes, same i rescued a kitten from a dual carriageway with cars just driving over it. My rottweiler would snap at it and the kitten would 'box’her snout!
