Quabbs is a small, scattered hamlet in the southwest of Shropshire, near the border between England and Wales. The name, which also occurs in Gloucestershire as a field name, is possibly derived from the Old English word cwabba, “marsh”

Rawtenstall - town in East Lancashire. It is at the northern end of the preserved East Lancs Railway on which steam locomotives can be seen hauling regular trains.

Yala National Park is a huge area of forest, grassland and lagoons bordering the Indian Ocean, in southeast Sri Lanka. It’s home to wildlife such as leopards, elephants and crocodiles, as well as hundreds of bird species. Inland, Sithulpawwa is an ancient Buddhist monastery.

Aachen A spa city near Germany’s borders with Belgium and the Netherlands. Aachen Cathedral was founded around 800 A.D. and a Gothic chancel was added later. Its Domschatzkammer (treasury) has medieval artifacts including the shrine of Charlemagne, who was buried here in 814 A.D. Nearby is the baroque town hall, Aachener Rathaus, with 19th-century frescoes. Sulfurous water fills the fountains of Elisenbrunnen.

Eastbourne - a south coast town that has a Victorian pier. I remember going there in the summer of 1964.
