Has anyone tried a device for electrical muscle stimulation,to help with post stroke foot drop .I have no heart conditions or any electronic implants. And I have an update on the topic I posted a few weeks ago about my right leg it’s much better now ![]()
Hi Chris, I have used an FES machine since my stroke 8 years ago and would highly recommend it. I’m lucky that my GP funds my machine and I attend the FES Clinic at the National Hospital for Neuroloy at Queens Square in London.
Some days I use an AFO leg brace to give my leg a different sensation.
Glad to hear that your leg is much better. Let ne know if there is anything specific that you would like to know regarding the FES machine.
Regards Sue
Thank you for your reply I will update you when it arrives.
Many people use them and I have heard lots of positive things. Definitely worth a try I’d say.
i have one and like the earlier comment I like it and highly recommend. It’s a bit of a faff to set up initially and get used to it but well worth it. Use a permanent marker to mark on your leg where to put the electrodes.
