So the last 2 weeks have seen more improvement than normal. My face numbness has decreased significantly, I feel about 90% of my throat and teeth and there is less of the feeling I am wearing a helmet. This hasn’t changed much from the stroke (18 months ago) … until now.
Walking, balance, talking, hearing, smelling, tasting all improved a lot.
It started with some face changes the night of getting acupuncture. So I thought I’ll go again until I don’t see massive changes. So I’ve had 8 acupuncture sessions with 4 different people that have no idea of each other. I’ve been needled in lots of spots. Last time was yesterday and that night again, more changes. I will be going again next week, as 4 weeks of that and I would be back to normal.
I have a feeling the O2 treatment has opened up space in my brain and there is now a pathway in my brain to the damaged areas. Acupuncture is then reconnecting the nerve back to brain. I believe there is also some link to CBD/THC gummies as ingesting 10-20mg of that has always preceded the changes that happen while I’m awake, not sure though, just happy things are looking good for me.
@smellypup really good to hear of your improvements. Whatever you are doing seems to be working for you. Here’s to the remaining bits left to improve following suit very soon.
It’s wonderful that you have found what works for you and have persevered with it. As I understand it, the therapies you are using are not the “conventional” or norm as offered by the NHS, but that have been used elsewhere.
They do come at a cost, financial, but clearly it is a price worth paying if you are achieving the sort of results you have been.
Very pleased that things are looking good for you and wishing you continued success and to you achieving the 110%
Anyone who says recovery slows down after 12 months… I just had my biggest changes 18 months after! Also bellow happened on the Saturday just gone, it’s Sunday morning here.
Only need 8 hours of sleep, starting 6 days ago. Was getting a consistent 10 hours.
My stomach/intestine now sometimes makes gurgle noises. I also feel gas there now, which is sometimes slightly painful but is similar to pre stroke
Needing to urinate feeling is more intense
Nystagmus reduced to 30% of what it was. My eyes have been cycling between blurry and white for the last month. Just yesterday my nystagmus decreased. First in my left eye then right eye, over about an hour. This is the main reason I felt in a bubble because anything past ~10m moved around too much so you tend to only look close. I thought I might be stuck with poor vision forever… so it made me quite emotional.
That,s great smellypup!! I,m just about 12months now (post stroke) and I thought I,m about as good as I,m going to get.Having said that ,having had a “mild stroke” I don,t have many deficits. Maybe my walking could be a bit better and I haven,t plucked up the courage to drive ,apart from a very quiet half mile or,so long! Which I managed .But there was no other traffic there so doesn,t really count! Anyway good for you! And you have given me hope for the future!
Thank you everyone. On sunday the nystagmus reduced so I would now say it is around 10% of what it was, nearly gone. I still have the odd cycle of blur so something is still being worked out in my eyes. But when it is crisp…omg
Another acupuncture session in a few hours, hopefully the progress continues.
Had acupuncture on face Mon and Sat, legs on Thu so 3 times this week. Can now also confirm that the gummies work to enhance acupuncture upto 3 days after it. As it sends pain relief it must work with the microwound from acupuncture. Probably also works with any strong pain reliever.
*Nyostagmus changing between 0% and 20% of how bad it was before. I have hope now it will be gone at some point
*Can now feel most of lips, can even kiss but more sensitivity would be good
*Can now feel most of face, so snot and dribbling should be less, feels weird
There is also indications something is happening to my right ear, and balance.
