I hope this message finds you all well. I’m reaching out to see if anyone has any experience or knowledge about using acupuncture as a treatment for memory loss. Alan been struggling with deteriorating memory, after his first stroke back in 2012 he underwent acupuncture therapy to address mobility issues resulting from the stroke, and it appeared to be quite beneficial towards physical recovery.
Now, I’m considering whether acupuncture might also be effective in addressing memory-related challenges / dementia. It would be helpful to hear from anyone who has explored this path. Whether you’ve experienced it first hand, know someone who has, or have any insights from research or professional advice, I would greatly appreciate any information you can share on this topic. Thank you so much in advance for your help.
Hi @Sonia158 I don’t have any experience in this but was just wondering whether some of it may be normal age related deterioration (unsure of Alan’s age so apologies if he is not of that age).
I was also reading a while back that over reliance on notes, phone reminders etc can impact our ability to remember things.
Is fatigue playing a part too? Perhaps he’s doing too much.
Hopefully someone will be along soon who has experience of acupuncture.
Hi Ann, Alan is 65. He normally sleeps until lunchtime. Then he will have his lunch, we will then do Lumosity and then the rest of the day he spends watching tv.
@Sonia158
I have had dry needling for my knees which was helpful but I have not known anyone who had used it for memory loss. I wish you well for the future and hope you receive the results you are looking for. Before going down that route do lots of research and get as much information you can. This seems like a new appreoach to memory loss.
