I am now 5 years post-severe stroke after a brain bleed and the thing that worries me most is erectile dysfunction, Does anyone else experience the same problem; if so, I will be pleased to hear from them. Bob.
Hi Bob I am almost five years post stroke and suffer from the same problem. It had started before my stroke, but since then my penis has shrivelled up with no sensation whatsoever. This is also a major problem when peeing with resultant dribbling. I now pee into a plastic jug held directly in place which has cut down the daily change of underwire and trousers. My wife died just after my stroke and I do not have a partner, so sexual activity is a no no.
Best of luck

Blood pressure medications, as well as some others, could be the cause for that. It can greatly reduce libido in both men and women. It’s something worth discussing with you’re gp.

Hello Brian,
Thanks for your response. Maybe I can help you - I had urinary and bowel incontinence after my stroke in June 2021. Upon discharge from hospital, I had a long term catheter inserted through my penis, and which needed to be changed every 3 months. The process was agonising and eventually I had epileptic fits which caused my collapse. After a few months I was introduced to a Nightingale nurse who specialised in urinary incontinence; she showed me a sheath device which is a bit like a condom and fits over the glans of the penis/ It has an exit tube which fits into a frame which stands on the floor. so now I sleep soundly all night without being disturbed by leakage. It is called a conveen or convene and is well worth exploring as it is so much more comfortable. I hope this helps. No more peeing into bottles etc ! Let me know if you need more info.
Bob
Totally a problem post stroke - we lack NO Nitric Oxide, so take Beetroot Complex & L-Citrulline 10,000mg | 180 Capsules | High Strength | Nitric Oxide Booster to Support Circulation for Energy & Daily Wellness before bed. I talk about NO here - but you can watch other clips too. Have you heard of Nitro-Glycerin? Explosive, right, will give your heart a boost and something else. It’s crucial for our vascular system.
I would consult your GP before taking this product. I take Clopidogrel like many stroke survivors and it quite categorically says to speak to your GP before taking it. This is the same with all herbal medication. It does not fall under the same testing banner as prescribed medication.
I’m not dissing it I’m saying get the thoughts of a professional first.
My own GP has said it’s better to check out any different tablets you need with a professional first. Either GP or Pharmacist.
Taking a beetroot complex supplement alongside clopidogrel is generally not recommended without speaking to your doctor or pharmacist. Concentrated beetroot can lower blood pressure and may interact with the liver enzymes that activate clopidogrel.
