I have been asked to get peoples thoughts about a number of face to face meetings by the stroke association. What do you think the association East should think of?
@jenny-wren Actual face to face or Zoom etc?
Actual face to face. At our zoom meeting we suggested what would be needed like disabled access, Food you could eat with one hand and such like. I had the idea of asking our forum but our leader who works for the stroke association hasn’t got access to the forum. I will pass any ideas to her. We also suggested telling survivors stories and not just clinicians. I will feed back any thoughts to our leader.
I may not have expressed myself very well. Stroke Association East is thinking of holding a number of conferences. It is asking stroke survivors in the East if they would come to a conference and what they would need to encourage them to come to a suitable venue, what speakers they would like and if there were stands at the conference what subject they would be on. Any questions ask me.
@jenny-wren Yes, face to face is a good idea.
Hello @ireneFC
Are you from the East of England? If you think it’s a good idea what would encourage you to come? What would you expect from a conference?
This sounds like an amazing idea. I think it’d be such a nice opportunity to meet others.
I used to do this here, early on after stroke, we met down the pub. All blokes. Just conversation but I would recommend bringing word games like we play here on the forum or other brain stimulating activities. However, chat time is good for the brain too.
@jenny-wren I am Scottish but live and work beside Heathrow.
Zoom sounds good, but anything helps
@jenny-wren No you didn’t make it clear or I cant read. I didn’t realise it was only for a certain area. Face to face is the best ay of contact, although i am part of a Whatsapp group which is real fun.. I did Samaritans for 5 years and I loved face to face rather than Phone, texting or e-mailing. Good luck for the future ![]()
