Does anyone have a Nimbus Access card and are they any good

Hi guys, so since my Stroke I have ongoing impairments and always will but my disabilities are pretty invisible. I have ongoing cognition, speech and fatigue issues and I also have issues with balance and have arthritus in my left knee which is on my Stroke side. I have been looking at the Nimbus Access cards for businesses to improve access for disabled people. Does anyone have one and are they any good?

I can’t help you with that one but I am pretty obviously disabled if you see me out and about so people in general are considerate.

On the phone you wouldn’t know so I simply speak up, explain I had a stroke and they need to give me time. Once they hear that they become helpful and amenable.

No need for complicated explanations. I also try to be helpful and amenable myself not taking undue advantage of their good nature.

There are badges, lanyards and cards and I’m sure they will be a help.

Others here will recommend no doubt.

Best wishes

keep on keepin on

Cheers Bobbi, i am still in a wierd place where I do get a bit anxious using lifts and disabled toilets etc incase I am challanged so I struggle on but I really need to stop and be a little more realistic and kinder to myself and just make life a little easier. The card has symbols on which outline your disability which could be useful so I dont have to explain everytime particularly when my speech is bad.

@HamPorkson

Check these out

similar to what you are talking about.
I know from reading here that some use them and say they are good

You are not alone there’s about a million of us in the UK also in that weird place. Nice to meet you.

You are absolutely right, you do need to be kinder to yourself.

You should do whatever works for you and that could be tried and tested things or things you come up with yourself.

To me, being aware that the disabilities are invisible means I have to accept sometimes people might put their foot in it due to their lack of knowledge, but in the main, when people know your condition I would hope the vast majority would be very understanding and willing to help in any way they can.

Go ahead, please do make life easier for yourself.
Be brave, be confident, believe anything is possible :slight_smile:
