TodayI decided to live life as if I was in impaired
I almost jumped out of bed.
My trip to ophthalmology meant I had to walk in and to and from assessment rooms.
All completed. Then went to the animal feed place for dog food, walked in and out.
Finally I visited my mother in law and climbed mount doom!!
My single greatest challenge on a regular basis. I would rather never climb them again but my wife would be very unhappy so I risk death and damage for marital bliss
The concrete steps to her eagle nest.
My decent proved more painful than the ascent.
Then on the way home I got out of the car stick free and posted a letter.
This left me shattered when I got home so sleep will be most welcomed by the and i hope the right side will recover from its exertions today
Wow Mark! Those concrete steps look pretty daunting.
Well done on taking them on as a regular challenge - I am sure they are doing you a power of good.
I hope you remembered to drink you mug of Horlicks before tucking yourself in for the night
Thanks everyone I’m on the mend two teaspoons of honey and slept like a baby.
Yesterday cleaning the car windows stick free fare poop me out but kept upright not pretty but job completed
Oh well done @mrfrederickson, you must feel so proud and pleased with yourself in that mammoth achievement. And those steps are daunting, I avoid them if I can. Going up is fine, but never been good with heights, without something to hold onto, my stroke leg can trembles a little going steep inclines
We are our own worst enemies when it comes to progression in stroke recovery. Naturally we have to adapt to our disability and find alternatives ways to get through life as well, ways around our disabilities. But they can become so habitual to the point you can forget to consider whether there could be any further progress, you don’t even test it anymore. Sometimes that can be the only thing that’s holding you back from progressing. So occasionally you need to test yourself, re-evaluate your disabilities and throw a certain amount caution to the wind in order to achieve further progress, just as you have done!
You make a very valid point Lorraine. We probabky all get so used to our adaptations that there probably are things we could do normally again if we gave it a try.
@mrfrederickson well done Mark on cleaning the car windows.. you should give yourself more credit for the things you can do. E.g. say I cleaned the car windows & don’t add on the not pretty bit. That bit doesn’t matter. You did it and thats a great achievement.
Point taken I’m sure oo much of a perfectionist and it sounds negative not meant to be. I’m very pleased with how much I have achieved but as usual want that little bit more.
Just had my first gallon the new house? The wheelchair with a faulty brake gave way leaving me to fall backwards in the garage but with mums help I’m up again
Sounds good. Remember, listen to your body and if needed have a rest day or at least low activity day so that your body and brain are not over-stretched.
Yes will do had a long walk yesterday so being restful today and watch ing F1 guaranteed to put me to sleep.
Wish I knew what if anything my brain is doing to repurpose the functions lost as a result of a big the stroke!
Currently my brain has delivered over a week of pain and discomfort in my left side. About normal for my history and I do hope that it resets in good time.
