Crescendo TIA

Well despite changing my medication after my TIA in July , my first for 5 years , I had two on Wednesday 25 minutes apart. Fortunately we have a wonderful nhs to look to. I spent Wednesday night and Thursday morning in our local hospital. Because i had a TIA followed by another they say that is two which apparently is a cascade TIA , which means unfortunately I cannot drive for 3 months. I am absolutely fine now.
I had the results from my MRI and had a CT scan on Tuesday, both are completely fine .

Hi Stuart - Sorry you’ve had the crescendo TIAs. Unfortunately, the medication only reduces the risk and does not guarantee further occurrences of strokes. Wrt to the risk reduction, it depends who you ask and what medication is used, and also the individual’s “underlying health conditions”.

The main thing is you are fine and you have access to a wonderful NHS to help care for you.

Maybe you should take a little rest to recover from the crescendo

Take care.

Sorry to hear of your crescendo TIAs. How frustrating for you after all that time. Glad to hear you are doing ok. Hopefully you will soon be back driving too.

Rest up & take it easy.

They have put me on aspirin for 30 days on top of the tricagrelor which I was already on. They have also given me a ppi to help with any stomach issues, I will try to manage without them as I have had them before and they didn’t suit me. But will take them if my stomach gets upset. They did give me 300mg of aspirin in the hospital without any stomach issues. We’ll have to see.

Not sure if it’s worth discussing with the GP / Stroke consultant if you have already found they don’t agree with you. Alternatives may be available and GPs don’t always check past history unless flagged as allergens.

Take care.
