Companionship

I suffered an ischaemic stroke 5years ago. I have a weak leg and no practical use of my left arm. I still receive physio, i go to the gym, drive and socialise. I live in a very supportive community, have friends and a wonderful family. I fully understand and appreciate how fortunate I am. However, a few days after having been admitted to hospital, my wife didn’t visit but a son came to tell me she had been diagnosed as having a brain tumour and was about to have an operation to remove it. Long story short, I’ve survived but she didn’t. Currently within a few days of the anniversary of her death and i still miss her terribly

More particularly , companionship and chat with an intelligent, well -read woman.
I live just south of Edinburgh and would really welcome some correspondence.

@Colint that must have been very tough for you and I am sure you continue to feel the loss of your wife.

It will be difficult to fill the gap left by your wife but this forum is a great place to reach out if you need to. The Stroke Association also have some online activities that you could join if that’s the sort of thing that you like. You can find out more

Here

Wishing you all the best.

Hello Colin @Colint,I had an haemorrhagic stroke and can’t walk talk or eat.i know Edinburgh well.i went to university there and lived there for 5years.i too have wonderful family -three adult daughters.I completely understand your desire to have companionship,I can’t offer chat,as I can’t speak thanks to the tracheostomy that was fitted when I had the stroke to aid my breathing.but I’d happily ‘chat’ to you in the written word on here.

Hello @Colint - With this forum, it does not matter where you live. We can correspond any time with any one

As the anniversary of your wife’s passing approaches, perhaps you can think of the happy times you had together. You might want to think about getting a family and friends get together and remind yourselves how lucky you all were to have had her in your lives.

Raise a glass to her :wine_glass:

May she rest in peace.
