Cold right hand

I had a haemorrhage stroke two years ago on the left side. I find that my right hand gets cold. Does anyone else have it? It’s not the worst thing that happened but I’m curious.

Hi @Diane1 & welcome to the community. Hope you’re doing ok since your stroke.

I don’t have a cold hand specifically but I do feel the cold more. Is this something you’ve had since your stroke or is it a new thing? If new I’d suggest getting it checked out as could be a circulatory issue.

Best wishes

Having worked outside for 12 years then moving into a chill and freezer warehouse I never felt the cold much. But since the stroke I do feel the cold more. I would never have though of putting a hat or gloves on when walking the dog. But now I do.

I mentioned this to the Dr and he said yes it’s more than likely down to the stroke. But if it’s bothering you get it checked out.

Hi @Diane1 and welcome to the forum. I agree with @Mrs5K that you should get it checked out with your gp first before you settle on it being a side effect from your stroke.

Nutrient deficiency due to weight loss and the medications we take are quite common post stroke, leading to anemia, hence things like cold hands/feet etc. I was found to be anemic, seriously low in folic acid, someone else on here was low in iron, and someone else again was low in B12. It’s a simple blood test to check your levels. For me it was a boon being put folic acid for a couple of weeks as it relieved some of the fatigue and my heavy leg syndrome and improved my appetite

@Gnasher I never felt the cold until i had my stroke but it does not worry me because I understand it is an after symptom of the stoke. No need to bother my GP. Turned up my heating and wore warmer clothes, done :slightly_smiling_face: I wish you well :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Hello and Welcome to the forum @Diane1.

I note you have already had some excellent feedback from our regulars and I can concur with feedback from in particular @Mrs5K and @EmeraldEyes

My question to was the same as that asked by Anne which is how long have you had this. You had the stroke two years ago and so have you had it since the stroke and just ignored it/lived with it or is this a new occurence?

Getting your GP to have a look will do you no harm and may give you some pointers. It may be as Lorraine says some changes to your diet or even after/side effects of medication, but there is no point in not making use of available resources.

Wishing you all the best.

From what you say, clearly the cold right leg and hand hasn’t bothered you and am guessing you haven’t sought a professional/healthcare opinion on this?

Wishing you all the best.

Mine is vice versa. The tingling is anoying but I prefer them over the headaches and anxiety attacks…
