I’m sure this will be of interest to many of us here:
Yes, very interesting, though a little late for my Mum. She has just been taken off Asprin which she was on for 6 years plus post stroke.
I found this article also interesting advertised on the same page as the colpidogrel article.
I note, the risk may be cut … there are no guarantees.
I think we have to read any mainstream medical reporting with care as it’s easy to misinterpret things, both for the reader and the reporter. There’s quite a stark warning from the director of the BHF at the end of the potassium article, but many people won’t read that far which is a worry. But interesting to see how the science is progressing and you’re right, it’s all about probabilities, not guarantees.
Yes, too much is as bad as not enough.
Also worrying is the number of people who will start taking it in supplement form without any consultation with their doctor first ![]()
It’s surprising the number of people who think “its just a vitamin, you can’t overdose on them any any excess in the body you’ll just pee out”.
But its just not that simple, its the impact it can have on your body from nausea, headaches, and digestive issues to severe problems like kidney stones, liver damage, heart issues, and nerve damage.
As well as that, supplements can intefere with other medications you might take. They can also impact on any blood test reults, false results increasese the risk of being misdiagnosed.
Always discuss with your doctor first, supplements can kill you just as easily as any other medication.

I am currently on this medication and hate taking it. I feel its way too strong. Its the medication they turn to as a first one for the majority of stroke patients. Lets hope going forward they develop some more effective medication with less side effects.
@IreneFC I’m on it as well and so far haven’t had any problems, apart from maybe a trail of blood spots around the house after gardening this weekend - I didn’t notice what the roses had done to me. I had a cat on the same medication for over 4 years until she left us earlier this year, too, so I take the attitude that if it was good enough for her it’s good enough for me ![]()
Thanks for sharing. Hopefully all of us that take clopidogrel will have much healthier hearts too.
I, too, often leave a trail of blood around the house when I haven’t realised I have cut myself.
