I have a playlist I call cheerful tunes because it makes me laugh, no matter how many hundreds of times I have heard it. Indeed, my vinyl collection is mostly comedy albums because, for me, life wouldn’t be worthwhile without laughter. A good comedy song or spoof is not so trendy these days, but I think they still have merit as an art form. So this thread can be comedy songs, novelty songs or comedians spoofing music. Doesn’t matter if it doesn’t make anyone else laugh, if it makes you laugh, you’re temporarily cured.
Here is a thread of cheerful, comedic ditties. Please feel free to add your own. I am going to start with an hilarious spoof of Elton John by the dear Kenny Everett.
To add to this, so people recognise my range of chuckledom, I once had someone say to me, you seriously listen to and sing along to “Weird Al” Yankovic by choice?
@Rups , good choice. Haven’t heard of weird Al in yonks. If you want a cheerful song: Second summer of love - Danny Wilson, I could be so good to you - Dennis Waterman, Dancing in the moonlight - Toploader, Have love will travel - The Sonics, Happy hour - The Housemartins. Give them a try.
Diolch for that. I had tears running down my eyes. Kenny, what a lark. Couldn’t see the second video, I think it was a broken link, but I know and enjoy the song well, but as compensation… May I offer you …
My dad had a Barron Knights cassette that I was obsessed with as a child. I think this was my favourite. I always believed that Smurfs were from Catford.
