Advice to getting carers on side. 21% of the NHS staff are not English.i’ve heard of stroke survivors being very lonely because their carers don’t speak English,a simple little trick I deploy everyday is to play popular music from the carers country of origin, that way they look forward to coming into care for you, administer medication etc.
Best of luck here’s to building bridges with our carers.
Good point Mich. my career experience isn’t new but both my wife and my mum had carers visit to help. They all seemed very caring i can’t speak highly enough. So important unsung hero’s I think.
Hi @Mich-mm , thank you for this enlightening post, I work as a carer- well kids in care or a home as it was once known. I have learned so much from kids who couldn’t speak English but learned and some have become leading professionals in their adopted countries.
Hey Michelle - it was my absolute pleasure to meet you. I took a risk turning up unannounced but it was my intention for this to be a pleasant surprise which I hope it was rather than a shock !!
I wish you a continued recovery and as I have said before, please carry on doing what you are doing and I think you might be pleasantly surprised as to what you might achieve. You may also find that once things start falling into place, the rate of recovery may increase exponentially This is really up to you and I believe with your willpower and the support you are receiving you will truly achieve your desired goals.
