Car Insurance Companies

Car Insurance. I thought I read here somewhere that there were Insurance companies more amenable to insuring stroke victims who have been cleared to drive. I am aware of the section 88 and DVLA issues and need no guidance on that, it is recommended Insurance Companies that I am seeking. I am currently with Admiral and I’m aware that a friend is having problems renewing with them although she has not suffered a stroke but has had an op on her brain. Any thoughts most welcome.

My thoughts are: go to a broker and let them do the grunt work.

Hi @DavidG11, insurance companies today are like a lot of other daily chore/ hassles and they are if I’m being kind whimsical they can decide one day ots yes and fine then next day no, no computer says no.

When I dealt with my insurer it was a bot , couldn’t grasp what I was saying so connected me to a human- hurrah but no hurrah too. A 45 minute discussion with checks , checks and double checks then asked what did the DVLA and GP advise- GP said fine DVLA followed that guidance so ok sir and applied a wee discount. Whimsical is all I have but good luck and hope it works out well.

As @Dexster says a broker could be your best bet. They will do all the hard work for you. I used LV for my insurance after my stroke and I am now with Lloyds bank. I have no licence restrictions.

LV= has now been taken over by ALLIANZ ! So no doubt arrangements will change!.

That lot wouldn’t even insure my brand new car despite already being a customer, underwriter policy was the excuse!
