The time has come to buy a quality tread mill
Good belt thickness wide enough for my broad gay plus hand rails or hand support for my floating arm
If it can be folded then the wife will be happy.

I am all for it!
Just be careful.
I was running on a treadmill a while ago, and it malfunctioned and went to the highest speed it could go. I started to panic as I couldn’t find the emergency stop button. I could have hoisted myself a bit off the belt, but I didn’t think to do that. I found the panic button after 10 seconds.
Sorry for that – not raining on your parade. Just be careful!
I think it can be beneficial for you. You must take reasonable risks at times.
Please take care of yourself.
Why apologise? Now he’s going to make doubly sure he knows where the emergency button is before he ever ventures forth on it.
That’s a good thing in my book

You’re right, friend!
Go for it. It will help i’m sure.
I got a treadmill that has a cord you attach to you. If you pull it it stops the treadmill instantly. Easier than looking for a button…it does take you a little by surprise the first time it happens though
Yes safety is a top concern being that in America the top injury is treadmill related.
Just another example of adapting to new challenges but the rewards are high
I never knew there was such a thing as a cord you can rip off to make the machine stop.
I thought it was a standard safety feature. I know my sister had one on hers. The ones at the gyms have can be clipped to your clothes so if you fall it yanks the cord attached to the safety switch.

I was on a treadmill on a cruise ship. I didn’t see any such protection device. Maybe I just never realized there was one.
The treadmill went up to maximum speed – thank god I was able to sprint for 10 seconds. LOL
Yeah it’s been standard on every one I’ve ever seen too
A case of YMMV then!
Well just for your future reference, here’s just 2 example of the safety feature. But then, I wouldn’t know how it would work without the rail, as in the corner pic of the woman in the yellow vest
Spot on Lorraine it is a requirement for safety at home and in gymnasiums
No harm done there are some very funny if not painful videos of people who did not play it safe.
I’m to old tall and fat to swap improvements in stroke recovery for plaster casts so it will be safe y me
Have you decided which rollercoaster/treadmill you’re going for yet :
Yes, wasn’t something I consciously bought but it is definitely a good sagety feature. As @EmeraldEyes says it clips to your clothes so if you fall or, like me, end up going off the back of the treadmill then it stops the treadmill immediately preventing further injury. I’m sadly not able to use a treadmill now…instead i hang some clothes from it
So if you set the speed to max, will it blow dry your washing Ann

Now there’s a thought
I can recommend the Life Fitness F1 treadmill. I had mine for 12 years before I had to get rid of it because I moved somewhere without the space to put it. A good and reliable treadmill and folds up so it doesn’t take up too much space.
Having had 3 treadmills, I’d caution against the cheeper options. Our first 2 were a real problem, wearing brushes out quick, tripping electrics. The 3rd a better quality, yet 2nd hand, has been great
