Things are OK (I think).
Need to catch up on some sleep.
We’ve been doing 24 hr + shifts for nearly two weeks.
It was a crazy thing we did, but somehow we got sucked in.
It sounds like you definitely need to catch up on some sleep. As you wpuld say to others you need to look after yourself too. 
glad things are okish though. It’s very easy to get sucked into things.

Hey Ann - keep going with the puzzles and enjoy your break.
We’re still catching up on lost sleep and things and also trying to figure out what actually happened! It all seems a bit surreal. It seems Mum went into hospital, doctors didn’t have a clue what the problem was, gave her some medications, took scans, declared her medically fit and sent her packing. The time in hospital clearly affected her and she has come back a different person. Right now we are still trying to figure out exactly what has happened to her. She seems well enough, but she has gone “mute” compared to the lively bubbly person she was. Not sure if she is “testing” us as she has got this naughty streak in her. It’ll be a week tomorrow since she came back home. Let’s see …
Just had a weird experience on the connections. I’ve been having a poor run of late and missed out yesterday. Have been staring at today’s puzzle and was in the process of throwing in the towel. I wanted to see the solution for future reference and so I had a stab and much to my surprise, got the orange group, then I had another stab and got the green group. I thought there’s no way I’m going to complete this and picked four more and much to my shock I got the purple group and hence by default the blue group to solve the puzzle 
Maybe I am doing myself an injustice here, because clearly I must have applied some logic in picking the connections - three guesses in a row? Who knows.

Sorry to hear that your mum isn’t back to her old self since her visit to hospital. It must be difficult trying to work out what is going on. I wonder if the seizures she had have played a part in how she is right now and maybe it is going to take a longer than you would like to bounce back to her normal happy self. It may be that the seizures & hospital stay,have just completely worn her out and at her age it will take her a bit longer to bounce back.
I hope you manage to work it out soon & that you get back on top of your sleep.

Hello Ann - All Ok, but recovery is slow but perhaps I should not be surprised. Having had a chance to reflect on things, perhaps we have had high expectations and to be fair Mum has lived up to them but this latest set back is possibly the worst to date and it involves medication which we haven’t had to deal with before.
I am not sure if even the exposure to x-rays an the CT scanner may have weakened her more then usual. The last couple of days she seems to be getting her voice back or is being more vocal. She has been sleeping a lot more than usual and that leads us to think her brain needs longer to refresh.
She has had us concerned a few times especially when she was in that “mute” phase - even her carers were concerned.
She had a surprise visit from her great-grandchildren and granddaughter which seemed to please her.
I guess we’ll have to take it easy for a while until we know where we’re at.

It is quite hard to remain focused and sometimes a couple of wrong drops or worse accidental drops can make a big difference.

I still haven’t managed to cut back the apple tree - not sure if it might be too late now.
Sorry to hear things still haven’t settled with your mum. I can only imagine that the seizures have taken a lot out of her along with her hospital stay which would have been exhausting on its own. At her age it will take longer to bounce back also.
It’s encouraging that she is starting to get her voice back. Hopefully she’ll start to be more vocal as the days move forward.
There is nothing wrong with having high expectations and your mum has certainly been someone who has lived up to those expectations. She is a proper trooper as are you and your sister.

It’s hard for me as I find I am unable to get my sisters to share their thoughts or they respond by saying “I don’t know, or I don’t know what to do”. So more often than not, I end up making “executive” decisions. I am in the process of making one now …
As per our mantra, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life, and so what are you going to do about it?”.
On a lighter note, I was sorry to learn your Waffle streak came to an end as I had fully expected it to continue as you were on a bit of a roll. Maybe too much Christmas Pud or maybe Mulled wine? No matter, we can start again.
So with that in mind, I guess I now have licence to resume my Daily Waffle which as we know was paused on 99.

Got the century on my 211 th game with a total of 609 stars averaging 2.89 stars per game. Might see if I can get this up to 3 stars per game average.

I wonder if your sisters are worried about making a wrong decision and that’s why they respond as they do. In my very humble opinion as long as the decision is made for the right reasons then if it turns out not to be right then that’s ok and you can revisit it. I know it isn’t as easy as I made it sound though. I have no doubt you all do everything with your mums best interests at heart.
I had a successful puzzling day yesterday although waffle was close again.

Thanks for your thoughts on Mum - it makes sense what you say and I guess I write on this forum partly for learning/education but also to get things out of my system. I have always believed I have done the right things for those who I have tried to help and always knew that things don’t always turn out the way you would like.
Also, with my sisters, they are both strong willed (as we all are) and will happily make most decisions but sometimes they (as you suggest) don’t want to be seen to be making the “wrong” decision. My younger sister who has been co-carer throughout has had a couple of occasions when things have “gone wrong” on her watch and this has left her less confident when it comes to making certain types of decisions.
I have made it (or tried to make it) clear that there is no wrong decision. You do what you believe is right and that’s fine, no matter the outcome. But somehow this is something she still doesn’t seem to want to accept and so prefers to defer certain decisions to me. But between us we get there and to be fair, even though Mum is non-verbal I am pretty certain she has always steered us in the right direction and she is so forgiving and knows we all make mistakes

Even though your sisters know there is no judgement with their decisions whatever the outcome they probably still have an element of “guilt” which perhaps holds themback. Someone who will ultimately take control of any decisions is needed in these circumstances. I know with Dad my mum was the decision maker (rightly so) and we didn’t always agree with the ones she made but we never went against her.
Puzzling seems to be going well for you. I love the waffle centurion marker. It makes me smile.

I’ve been with hubby this morning for his MRI Scan. We have a community diagnostic centre newly opened. It was extremely busy there but ran like clockwork and muxh better than trying to find a parking space at our local hospital.
Happy new year to you, your mum & sisters. I hope it starts with your mum getting back to her happy self and things, in turn, settle for you.

We had our first few snowflakes of the year overnight but it really was just a couple of flakes. Beautiful sunny day now though although need to wrap up warm if venturing out.

We too had some snow - it was falling at 5am when I went to throw the rubbish out.
Then during the day it was cold and so we had black ice in front our house as we are south facing and so no sunshine to melt the snow in these cold winter days.
To make matters worse, the council has resurfaced the pavement with some crazy mix of tarmac which seems to hold water/moisture which freezes resulting in black ice.
I went out at 5pm to get some milk and slipped and fell on the skating rink. Funnily enough, I had seen my neighbour walking gingerly on the same surface this morning at 8 am
