Hey Ann - there is so much music out there that we have not heard. I listen to any form of music but grew up mostly on pop music going back to the 60s (some 50s) and then 70s, 80s and 90s. After that I lost interest as I didn’t like the type of music that was being produced and so was catching up on past music. In recent years, and as part of my “catching up” I have discovered some gems from the recent past e.g. songs by Adele, Ed Sheeran etc. But music is always on in my house at some point. I also tried to educate myself on the classical music and got to know a few.

Hi Ann - wrt Mum, we can only hope. I am finding myself getting mixed feelings, increased doubts, frustration and not being the half glass full person I thought I was.

Recent events/dealings with professionals that left me feeling less than impressed with them has not helped, but I have to snap out of it.

I noticed my connections solving brain today had a similar start to your brain which is better than mine. It seems we both fell into the trap of the spirits/medium type, which on another day may well be a connection, though it was not so today (Ouija Board, Seance, Medium and Spirit). You then got the amber whilst I got the purple.

Sorry to hear you’re having mixed feelings about things at the mo. We all have those times so don’t beat yourself up over it. I imagine tirddness and frustration are all creeping in and that won’t help. Just go with the flow for a bit and try not to overthink things. I am sure the glass half full person will soon return.

Well, the sun was shining here this morning and everything always seems much better when the sun is out. It is raining now but
was nuce whilst it lasted.

It has been a very busy week at work but I am hoping tomorrow will be a little steadier.

I had a successful day again on the puzzles with all of them completed.

I think wrt puzzles we are on a similar wavelength and so probably not surprising we fell in the same trap. I think we had similar thoughts on today’s connections too.

I must say I enjoyed today’s Connections with the extra (pictorial) challenge of working out what the picture was.
I solved it quite nicely in the end - the default was needed as I am not at all familiar with MS. PAC-MAN.

Puzzling today wasn’t too bad for me although the pictures threw me a bit to start with. Took me a minute or 2 to take it all in but once I did they actually came fairly easily.

So connections were completed in a few short minutes, once I got over the shock of the pictures

Your Wordle effort is very good - chances of getting it on the first attempt is 1 in 2315 and I expect it will happen if you keep playing.

Interestingly I got it in three but like you I needed only one letter after the second guess. Spooky how we seem to be thinking alike.

Wordle I found tough today too. I thought I would run out of moves but did it in 5. My starter word wasn’t a lot of help today other than to rule out 5 letters. My 2nd choice of word didn’t help much either.

Been a bit of a weird day, as unfortunately Mum had another terrible night. We haven’t quite worked out the exact reason as there seems to be no consistent pattern, or if there is we can’t pin it down.

So we had a review of the events of the last few weeks going back to the last hospital visit and subsequent changes to her medication. You may know Mum is very anti-medication and we are currently giving her medications which she herself would choose not to have. It’s a double edged sword because we know how she feels and what she would do, but we (and the healthcare system) have to act in the best interest of Mum and as such we are obliged to give her the medication.

You may also recall, we had concerns of long term use of omeprazole (she was put on this to fix the damage that was caused by long term use of asprin). It seems our concerns were well founded inasmuch Mum appears to be having adverse reaction to this medication. We did check the possible side effects and we took the decision that we had to take the risk to allow her stomach lining to recover. That said, it was always our intention to stop it as soon as possible and it seems that time is now. I discussed this with my co-carer (sister) and we will be speaking with Mum’s GP on how she can be taken off this medication as it appears to be causing her distress.

She has had blood tested a week ago and all was OK, apart from high potassium and so today a repeat test has been requested. We should know soon what if anything might be the problem.

I note yet again, a very similar outcome on solving the connections - same start and same incorrect connection before solving, thought the order was slightly different Spooky!

Sorry to hear that your mum had a bad night again and that things haven’t remained settled as you would have liked. I think it’s very good idea to speak to her GP about the omeprazole as it probably isn’t good to take that long-term. I think though you have to wean off of it rather than just stop it or certainly I recall that being the case with my sister who now no longer takes it either. It is so difficult when she can’t tell you what is ailing her. I hope it settles soon for you all.

Well done on your continued run on the puzzles you certainly seem to have got the hang of waffle and I really hope the century it does happen. I think I’ll be more disappointed than you if you don’t achieve it now.

I thought I was going to blow it with Waffle today. I knew the Q could only go in a couple of places and typically I moved it to the wrong one first time Then I dropped a letter in the wrong place and my moves were starting to disappear. I pulled it back though and ended on 2*s. Given the start I had I’ll take that.

Wordle took some thinking about today. I got very stuck on the 3rd move. I had 4 of the 5 letters but I just couldn’t work them into a word. In the end I reused a letter I had already ruled out to try and get the letters in a better order and that then gave me the correct word. 5 moves in total. Phew.

Hi Ann,

We’ve started the ball rolling on the omeprazole and more obs and bloods have been taken today. As I write there has been no contact which we were told to expect as there is nothing “obviously” wrong with Mum.

Chat with GP was a waste of time and we plan to have a follow up chat next week when almost certainly we will expect support on taking Mum off the PPI. Incredibly, the GP has told us to do a hard stop on the PPI having initially suggested we should carry on using it as the symptoms Mum is displaying are unlikely due to use of PPI. I’ve gone into a bit more detail on another post I put on the forum for other members who might want to come of “unnecessary” drugs.

Thanks for the heads up on how your sister came off omeprazole - good to know and it supports our belief and plan to do what’s best for Mum.
