Well done on yesterday’s puzzles. Hope your mum is enjoying her rest ftom physio. It’ll probably be good for her to have a little break & if you’re doing some passive exercises in the meantime all will be ok.
Today’s puzzles were a bit strange – especially connections. I did manage to stay away from selecting all the bowling ones as a connection though Took me ages to work out what on earth was going on as eyes kept being drawn back to bowling. Did get them in the end though.

Wordle as done in 4 again. My starer word seems to be helping me a lot so far. Now I’ve said that you watch it’ll change the other way.
Wordle 1,515 4/6
Waffle was a 2* today. I was a bit miffed with myself as I moved what I thought was a U to the right position but it turned out I’d moved an A. Silly eye sight

Hope your day has been ok. It is very warm here today but not at all sunny at the moment. We even had some rain earlier.
Mum has been OK, but for the last two weeks she has had cover carers as her regular carers have gone on holiday and I wonder how much of a bother this is for her. That said, she does put up with (I guess she doesn’t have much choice) a lot that most others wouldn’t.
She was visited today by a Frailty Nurse and yesterday by someone from Social Services. Neither were particularly helpful.
You’re on a good run with the puzzles. I blew the connections today - a bit of impatience/brain fog or whatever, but did OK on the other two.
Your mum has probably got used to her regular carers & different ones will probably unsettle her a bit but I am sure she copes in her own way.
Shame the fraility nurse & social services visits weren’t as successful as you’d hoped.
Today’s puzzles were ok again.
I got the connections. Took a while to get started and then got 1st two ok. Then had to think hard about the 3rd one. But hot there without hiccups in the end.
Worlde was a 4. Happh with that.

Waffle was 4*s so very happy & streak continues. I am aiming for 20.
Sounds like you are a bit tired (or maybe a lot tired). I think you are a family of troopers.
Happy Thursday.
I had a late start on the puzzles today as I overslept. Whoops. Very unlike me and I have had a weary day as a result.
The puzzles were still solved though.
Wordle I did in 4. Did take me ages to get the final letter on my 4th attempt though as couldn’t work it out so tried lots of different ones in case it was a word I’d never heard of. I forget that letters can be used twice
Wordle 1,517 4/6
Connections took a bit of brain power today. I found them a bit weird but once I got them they weren’t as odd as I thought they were.

Waffle was done with 3*s remaining so I am happy with that. Tomorrow will make a streak of 20 so keeping my fingers crossed I complete it tomorrow.
Today’s puzzles weren’t too bad. I made it to a streak of 20 on waffle. Yay. 4*s for me today.

Wordle went well too and was achieved in 3.

Overall a happy set of results.
I saw all your messages about physio. Are you thinking about not continuing with physio for your mum? It must be a difficult decision for you especially as your mum can’t let you know whether she wants to go ahead or not.
Well done Ann - your happy run continues and well done on the score with Waffle
I have hit the wall with the Connections, but continue to enjoy success with the other fuzzles.

Wrt Mum’s physio, as you may recall we are on a break from the professional physio sessions as I felt there something not right with the way they were going. I had concerns about the PT staff especially their strategy/plan and execution of the same. Also their communication was poor and after six weeks and a hefty bill I have asked for a pause so I can discuss what exactly they think they are doing for Mum and if in fact they are taking me and my sister for a ride as some silly mugs with foolish aspirations and “money to burn”.
Unfortunately, the owner of the business has been taken away to attend to personal matters and so I have not been able to sit down with them. In the meantime, they have suggested we continue (me and my sister) doing the passive exercises the PT staff were doing to keep the momentum going.
Also, we have had a result of sorts with the Fragility Nurse who has given a contact who does PT for other clients in the community - this is promising as it means the PT may be better placed to understand and meet Mum’s PT needs, although the current provider is registered with a professional body and they have some good feedback (for what that is worth).
As well as that Michelle, mich-mm has worked with a PT provider who she rates very highly and I have looked them up and will likely ask them if they might be able to help. The one thing I need to bear in mind and which has always been our biggest challenge and that is Mum’s age and how it is perceived outside this household
The answer to your question "Are you thinking about not continuing with physio for your mum? " is a categoric “No, absolutely not”. The only question is to find the best solution for her. She has always benefitted from any such activity we have been able to get for her, and indeed, there was a time when we (I) felt she was weeks away from taking her first steps. I had got her standing up using me as her support. She was pushing up from a seated position to stand nearly upright holding onto my shoulders. Unfortunately that activity was interrupted and we lost momentum and as is often said on this forum, 1 step forward became 2 steps back and then other events took over and so we were essentially at square one again.
Right now, with a rest from the professionals and with what we are doing Mum is happy again - so maybe the program is too aggressive for her (3 hourly sessions a week). We will know for sure when we resume, which of course we will - it’s what she would do
For what my opinion is worth it sounds to me like the route you’re taking with the physio is a very sensible one. You do need to be sure that the private physios aren’t just taking your money and are doing everything in the best interests of your mum. Hopefully the PT info provided by the frailty nurse will lead somewhere for you along with the recommendation from Mich-MM. I wouldn’t worry about what other people think about what you’re doing. I am reasonably sure that everything you all do in is because you think it’s the best for your mum and why would you do otherwise. I hope you manage to find the best way forward for all of you.
The puzzles today went reasonably well. I completed them early today and will now have to find something else to do later on. Waffle what’s justa 1* today but my streak continues & am now at 21.

Wordle I did in 4. Which I was happy with. I thought the word might be my favorite coffee. It was close but just a letter difference.
Thanks Ann - I appreciate your comments and support.
Mum had a terribly restless night and it was “hell” for everyone - my sister got woken up
It has continued through to this morning - it is almost certainly the dreaded bloating - she did release a lot of wind last night but it just keeps building up.
So today, I am asking the carers just to keep her comfortable and talk to her instead of do the “default” activities to schedule - let Mum dictate the pace. I hope this will help.
It’s going to be a long day and possibly a long weekend (and not in a good way)
Oh no. I’m sorry to hear you’ve all had a really bad night. Hope your Mum’s bloating eases quickly for her & for you all too. Another night like last night for you won’t be great.
I think letting your mum take things easy is a good idea & hopefully if she’s a little settles then you and your sister can settle for a bit too..
Sending my best wishes and really hoping you have a better night / rest of the weekend.
Hope your mum, & consequently you & your sister, had a much better day & night yesterday & that the bloating has eased loads. I know you don’t like meds but maybe some short term meds to help settle things might be worth considering.
Todays puzzles were a bit close to the knuckle except Wordle which I did in 3.

Connections were done on my last life too. I think I made them harder than they were but my run continues so will take that.
Hi Ann - We are always conscious about getting the balance right and whilst we try to respect Mum’s wishes as much as possible and even though we believe she would take a particular action, if needed and if/when we have to make that decision for her, right now we do give her the medical option if available. With her being PEG fed and now further constrained by a tube within a tube, sometimes there are no suitable medicines available!!!
Thankfully, the dietician who has done a fantastic job helping Mum has suggested we can give Mum a product called BioGaia - this is something they have given other patients and it has worked. They are actually for babies (baby drops) - probiotic to balance gut bacteria and help with bloating.
We have trialled it and it seemed to work, and so now we use it regularly . But despite that Mum being Mum she finds a way round it and manages to upset her system
We accept things happen and they will continue to happen. In fact we see it as a positive because we believe these things happen as part of her recovery from the stroke. She has continued to recover at her own pace and each hurdle she has faced she has jumped.
She has had a better day today and yesterday and we are monitoring the situation.
Well done for continued success on the puzzles.
I’ve had a few bad days and missed one or the other puzzles. Yesterday failed the connections and even failed to post results.
Today my Waffles run came to an end just when I thought I was on a roll.
But on the brighter side, Mum is having a better day
Connections
Puzzle #798
I’m glad your mum had a better day yesterday and I hope that continues for as long as it can. I’m sure the bloating will be an on and off issue. Sometimes if people are prone to bloating there is little that can be done to stop it you just have to treat it when it happens. It sounds like that BioGaia might be a good option to treat it. It must be so difficult when you are restricted so much on what you can give her. It is bad enough when you can take conventional medicines but when it all has to go via a PEG that makes it much more difficult. I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult it is for you all.
Shame about your Waffle run coming to an end. Yesterdays was close to ending for me too. It was a difficult one I think. No need to apologise for missing posting the results. You are very busy with your mum and even more so when she isn’t comfortable so you don’t need to worry at all.
I’ve started the week ok with the puzzles. I fell for the snooker/pool connections trap initially but once I realised I did manage them fairly easily.

Wordle was a bit trickier and it took me ages to get a word that fitted with the letters I had. It turned out to be a fairly common word in the end so not sure why I had such an “issue”.

I hope your week is a good one. I have got to go into the office later this week. I usually work from home so will be nice to go in and see a few people. It does tire me out though but I have the bank holiday weekend to rest and recuperate from it.

Well, another fun packed day at the office was had. Tomorrow is my non-working day and although I wish I was still capable of working full time I actually do enjoy my mid-week day off now. It’s amazing how we adapt to the challenges life throws our way.
Today’s puzzles were a bit hit and miss although I did get them all in the end.
Wordle took me 4 attempts plus a million that didn’t get registered as they were all incorrect guesses Despite having 3 letters (in the wrong place) I struggled to think of anything using those letters in the gaps that I hadn’t already tried them in.

Hope your day has gone well and things are settled with your mum.
Well done on the puzzles - I am staring at a wall with connections and unlikely to get them but I will not give up just yet, but in case I run out of time, I include my other results.
I hope you had a good time at the office and your stock take went well.
I remember doing all night stock takes many years go - it was exhausting as it took place straight after normal close of business. This was a manual stock take - pen and paper, before the computerised systems where you can now do partial stock takes, though I guess full stock takes may still take place.
Mum continues to soldier own as she always has. I just wish I knew where she gets her desire, will power and ability to self-help when others around her writing her off.

Sounds goods - well done.
Can’t say I even noticed there was such a thing - I’ll have a look to see where I am. I am not registered so maybe I don’t have a classification.
Just looked it up - I only have this and I thing it is from the cache which will be lost when I clear history/cache which I end up having to do when the computer crashes. Not sure if it the same on SmartPhones?
