Brain Teasers / Riddles etc

Yes, this does require a bit of thinking.
Throw away the outside and cook the inside
Then eat the outside (which has been thrown away and throw away the inside which has been cooked?
Quite a riddle.
Thinking hats on.

Finally! You didn’t all get it immediately! But, keep trying. You’re all on the right track.

It’s a pineapple :pineapple:
Though I would not cook it as it’s nice enough to eat raw.
Also, I would core it before I would cook it, if I was to cook it.
Maybe it’s not a pineapple after all.

Btw, my IQ is < 120 as I only found 4 pineapples and stopped looking as I concluded the 5th Pineapple was the PINEAPPLE in the Question, but as it turns out, that was over thinking it and had I carried on looking, the elusive 5th pineapple might have caught my eye - it was the one above the dog sitting in the chair (4th from the left).

Second attempt, after rethink
This time I am going for a Yam (Fresh).
Peel it
Cook it
Eat the outer
Throw out the core

That’s my final answer  :

Oh oh now you mention yam I wonder if it is a vegetable rather than a fruit. So thinking something like a pod vegetable. Peas?? Nothing inside to get rid I don’t think. Potatoes perhaps but again we eat the inside. Parsnips maybe as peel them cook them & sometimes remove core :thinking::thinking: But then I thought of sweetcorn. :corn: you remove the green leaves, cook the cob then eat the corn and discard the inner bit (no idea what it is called). So think I am going with corn on the cob.

I’m hungry to know what the answer is :grin:

Ann-What do I have to do to fool you!!! :smile:Yes–it is CORN ON THE COB. :corn: But I must say that ManjiB got very, very close–except for"throwing away the inside".

ManjiB can have all the credit for me getting that one. I was thinking of fruit & only thought of veggies after her Yam suggestion.

Well done you lot! @Mrs5K @ManjiB @axnr911 :mega:

OK - this one will really test you.

Your task, should you wish to accept it is to:

Prove 7 times 13 is 28.

If I add the 1 & 3 then x by 7 that makes 28. I suspect that’s not right but it works for me

You’re almost there Ann and to be fair, I should give you that as you say it works for you.

But just in case anyone else wants to have a go, here is a the scenario.

A landlord stops his tenants in the hall and says
“You owe me 13 weeks rent at $7 a week”.

So tenant takes out $28 from his pocket and gives it to the landlord and says this is it i.e. $28 covers the 13 weeks rent at $7 week.

Landlord says it’s a lot more than that, but if you can prove it’s $28, you can have the room for free, but if not then it will be double.

The tenant goes and proves that 13 weeks at $7 a week is indeed $28 and gets the room for free.

Task:
Prove 13 x 7 is 28.

Have fun!

I could say it a different way, but Ann really guessed it first. I could say to the landlord–" One week at $7= $7 plus 3 weeks at $7=21. 21+7=$28. Is there another tricky way to do it?

Oooo @axnr911 that is clever. I like your thinking.

The only other way I can see is if you take the 1 x 7 = 7
Then 3 x 7 = 21

And add them up.

Hmmmm now I have tuped that out I think that is what Jeanne @axnr911 has said :rofl::rofl:

Very good Ann - you’ve nailed it.
I think Jeanne also got to the answer in a similar way.

So it is as you both say adding 7 to 21 to get 28.

If you would like to see a nice entertaining way to do this, please have a look at this brilliant clip where Lou Costello shows 3 different ways to prove that

13 x 7 = 28.

Genius !!

What a nice walk down memory lane! Here’s another riddle for you.
Three different doctors said that Paul is their brother yet Paul claims he has no brothers. Who is lying? :mask: :mask: :mask: :man_health_worker:

Oh you have got me scratching my head with this one.:thinking::thinking::thinking::thinking: I’ll be back after I have thought a bit more.

No one is lying.

All doctors have a brother who is called Paul but the Paul is says he has no brothers is a different Paul, so there are four Pauls in total and three doctors.

Or

If someone is lying, it would have to be Paul since it would be insane for three doctors to lie about having a brother called Paul and the reason why Paul is lying is because he has had a memory loss

@axnr911 I agree with @ManjiB but for a different reason.

I say no one is lying because the drs are all female. So Paul is there brother but he has no brothers but 3 does have 3 sisters. Maybe :slightly_smiling_face:

ManjiB- Your mind is going a mile a minute–and very creatively, too! Ann, again you came up with the right answer. ( Why do we tend to assume that doctors must be men?) Yes, they are all women doctors.
