Bladder control

It’s surprising what stress does to people - I think some of these staff are stretched to the limits with their workloads. I am guessing when they said what they said, they were under a lot of pressure helping out in other wards or even dealing with an emergency and so the patient ended up waiting longer than they might have normally. I am guessing a member of nursing or healthcare staff wasn’t physically in the ward when the request for help was placed. I have witnessed senior nurses having a meltdown and felt really bad for them because we got to know them and they were really nice people - just the job they do and the conditions they are put in can sometimes get too much.

That said, you do get the odd not so diligent healthcare workers so maybe it was just bad luck :frowning:

I am beginning to see that these ‘bad’ negative events we encounter every so often are the spur, the trigger, that forces us to seek out a remedy or a solution to a problem and can result in the discovery of a new and better way of doing things.

Seeking to find something or someone to blame is a diversion, a cop out, that prevents the needed change in direction.

Hello @Bobbi - You’ve lost me here with your response.
I wonder if you might be able to help me understand, for example which “bad negative events” you are thinking of and then what change in direction is being diverted.

Thanks. I have tried to get my head around it by reading it again a few times, but still I am none the wiser

I agree the staff were under a lot of pressure & they were often understaffed. But the poor lady couldn’t help it.

I know when I was in A&E & I pressed the buzzer for assistance I had to wait an hour & a half. Indicative of the difficulties faced by the NHS these days.

The best way I can respond to your question is from the point of view of a person, much like any other, who has had ‘good’ and ‘bad’ events in their life.

Things we perceive as ‘bad’ are often a subjective response to our experience.

I was referring in particular to those events we label ‘bad’. I was not referring to a specific event, rather to the process of judging any event to be bad.

I am definitely not the font of all wisdom or an accomplished communicator, so if what I say is not understandable then it is likely some shortcoming on my behalf.

I wouldn’t trouble yourself. Unfortunately I can’t guarantee that everything I write or say will always make sense.

Hey @Bobbi

Thank you and guess what? It is now totally clear what you mean and I totally understand what you are saying. It became clear to me when you answered my query by saying:

As soon as you say that it is all clear.

Maybe you are doing yourself an injustice wrt your wisdom and communication skills. I have always found you to be a good communicator, and you have shared many words of wisdom with us. When we are communicating as we are on this forum, there is scope for misunderstanding or misinterpretation but it can easily be clarified or rectified by a follow-up message or question as we have done in this occasion.

It is no trouble for me to follow up - I am happy to do so. I learned from someone, possibly just as wise as you  that there is no question like a dumb question. It is something that has stuck with me and whenever I am unclear, I will always ask (including where something might be “embarrassing”), because another thing that I have learned is that “If I am unclear or I need further clarification, I sure as hell will not be the only one”(assuming I am in a classroom, group or forum) and so by asking I will [likely] be helping someone else who may be in the same boat as me but not willing/wanting to ask.

I thank you.

I think all will be well as long as we have our bladders under control.
