I have noticed a number of contributors to this forum have mentioned they are stroke survivors and that they are autistic. Is there any known link between Stroke and Autism? I will be interested to hear.

My second eldest son has autism, and as far as I am aware it is mostly genetic, as an adult you can’t develop autism from stroke, but you can have similar traits. There is an overlap with cerebellar stroke (The kind I had) and neurodivergent conditions due to the cerebellum acting like a metronome for coordinating thoughts and emotional responses.
However, if you have autism (ASD) or other neurodivergent conditions like ADHD and have a stroke, it can make rehabilitation or managing the outcomes of stroke more challenging.
